Abstract

Un procedimiento termoquímico de escarpado en el cual (a) una corriente de oxígeno de escarpado es dirigida contra una zona de reacción de metal en fusión sobre la superficie de la pieza de trabajo metálica para producir una reacción termoquímica sobre la misma, y (b) se provee un movimiento relativo entre la corriente de oxígeno y la pieza de trabajo para continuar la reacción a lo largo de la superficie metálica para producir el corte de escarpado deseado, formando dicha reacción un charco en fusión delante de la zona de reacción en avance que tiende a hacerse más grande al progresar el corte, caracterizado por comprender: (c) dirigir por lo menos una corriente de fluido no reactivo de manera que forma una cortina laminar de fluido que provee una cubierta sobre la zona de reacción y por lo menos la porción trasera del charco en fusión de manera tal que dicha cortina forma un bolso con la superficie de la pieza de trabajo.
