Abstract
Un procedimiento mejorado para la obtención de acero de bajo contenido en carbono por inyección de oxígeno en una masa fundida férrea contenida en un convertidor desde encima de la superficie de dicha masa fundida, en el que la mejora comprende la producción de acero que tiene un bajo contenido de nitrógeno por las operaciones siguientes: (a) introducir un fluido exento de nitrógeno en el convertidor antes que el contenido de nitrógeno de la masa fundida haya alcanzado su nivel mínimo, mientras que se continúa el soplado con oxígeno, (b) ajustar el caudal de dicho fluido exento de nitrógeno de tal modo que el caudal total de gas residual que sale del convertidor se mantenga al menos igual al que se habría producido sin dicho fluido exento de nitrógeno en el momento del procedimiento de afino en que el contenido de nitrógeno de la masa fundida alcanzase su nivel mínimo, y (c) continuar la inyección de dicho fluido exento de nitrógeno sustancialmente durante todo el resto del periodo de soplado con oxígeno.
