Abstract

A transportable crane uses an independent transporter, which is used to erect the mast, then is disconnected from it and moved away from carrying another mast for erection at another site. The mast has telescopic upper and lower sections which are raised or lowered by the mechanism of the transporter. This mechanism is a triangular or rectangular assembly with power operated erecting members which engage the mast during the erecting and folding operations, and then disengage afterwards.
