Abstract

The packaging machine has a plurality of stations for folding the wrapping material, each station comprising a compartmented wheel (15), fixed folding guides and movable folding strips (40, 41, 47, 48) and a drive mechanism (1-14). The device enables the compartmented wheel which is normally used in machines for packaging soft packs, to be used in a machine of this type since it inverts the arrangement for folding the top flaps of the inner wrapper. For this purpose, the movable strips (40, 41, 47 and 48) are arranged in pairs (40, 47 and 41, 48) on opposite sides of the wheel (15) and are mounted in pairs (40, 41 and 47, 48) on a shaft (42 and 49) which oscillates by means of a lever mechanism and a cam (10, 11). The lever mechanism between the shaft (42) of the movable folding strips (40 and 41) and the cam (10) comprises a component (44) which oscillates on a fixed point (45), so that the strips (40, 41) are first made to turn in a direction opposite to that of the movement of the wheel (15), then stop and wait, and then turn in a direction opposite to the first, then again in the first direction and finally in the opposite direction.
