Abstract
Un procedimiento para depositar un chapado de níquel sobre un sustrato sin el uso de la electricidad, comprendiendo dicho procedimiento las operaciones de (a) limpiar el sustrato por contacto con un disolvente a fin de eliminar la grasa y el aceite; (b) hacer que la superficie resulte catalítica a la deposición de níquel activando el sustrato con una solución ácida si el sustrato es metálico y de por sí catalítico a la deposición no electrolítica, o catalizando el sus trato por contacto con una solución ácida que contiene paladio si el sustrato es no metálico o bien es metálico, pero no es de por sí catalítico; y (c) poner en contacto el sustrato con una solución de níquel no electrolítico que comprende una fuente de iones níquel, hipofosfito en calidad de agente reductor para los iones níquel, ácido o álcali suficiente para proporcionar un pH al cual sea operativa la solución, un agente acomplejante para los iones níquel y un estabilizador que comprende al menos un compuesto orgánico sustituido con yodo.
