Abstract

Un procedimiento para la fabricación de pigmento de dióxido de titanio, que comprende las operaciones de (1)preparar dióxido de titanio por el proceso del sulfato o por la oxidación en fase de vapor de tetracloruro de titanio, (2) tomar el dióxido de titanio así obtenido en forma de la descarga del calcinador o la descarga del reactor y dispersar el dióxido de titanio en agua en presencia de un dispersante que es de 0,1% o 0,3% en peso de monoisopropanolamina, un fosfato soluble en agua en una cantidad de 0,05% en peso, expresado como P2O5, o una mezcla de los mismos, o un silicato soluble en agua en una cantidad de 0,1% a 0,5% en peso, expresado como SiO2, o una mezcla de los mismos, (3) añadir a la dispersión acuosa así formada un fosfato soluble en agua en una cantidad de 0,05% a 1% en peso, expresado como P2O5, cuando el agente dispersante no es únicamente de un fosfato, (4) añadir a la dispersión un compuesto ácido de zirconio hidrolizable y soluble en agua en una cantidad de 0,2% a 2,5% en peso, expresado como ZrO2, un compuesto ácido de aluminio hidrolizable y soluble en agua en una cantidad de 0,2% a 2,5% en peso, expresado como Al2O3, un compuesto de silicio soluble en agua en una cantidad de 0% a 1% en peso, expresado como SiO2, y un compuesto alcalino de aluminio hidrolizable y soluble en agua en una cantidad de 0,5% a 2,5% en peso, expresado como Al2O3, (5) ajustar el pH de la dispersión, si es necesario, a un valor de 5,6 a 8,5, y (6) recuperar el pigmento tratado a partir de la dispersión, basándose todos los porcentajes en peso en el peso de dióxido de titanio en la dispersión acuosa.
