Abstract
Process for purifying crude wet phosphoric acid, containing free sulfuric acid, at elevated temperature, by adding a quantity sufficient for the precipitation of sulfuric acid in the form of calcium sulfate, of a suitable calcium compound, and of calcium sulfate inoculation crystals in the presence of alkali metal, silicic acid and sulfide compounds as well as an adsorption agent for organic impurities, and by separation of the purified phosphoric acid from the solid substances contained in the reaction product, characterized in that firstly, in a reaction zone, the wet phosphoric acid is mixed at temperatures of more than 70 up to 100ºC with the mentioned calcium compound and with calcium sulfate hemihydrated as crystals of inoculation, in the presence of alkali metal compounds, silicic acid and sulphide as well as car Bón active as an adsorption agent, and they are reacted, precipitating sulfuric acid in the form of calcium sulfate hemihydrate with the formation of a slurry, a part of this slurry is returned to the reaction zone, then from the rest The resulting precipitate is separated from the porridge with respect to the purified phosphoric acid, it is suspended to form an aqueous suspension containing 0 to 30% by weight of phosphoric acid, after which the calcium sulfate hemihydrate contained in the suspension is converted, at temperatures between 20 and 70ºC, in calcium sulfate dihydrate, the solid substances in the suspension are separated from the aqueous phase, and then the separated solid substances are removed by washing with water, after which a part the separated aqueous phase and the resulting washing waters are returned to the process to effect the suspension and conversion of the calcium sulfate hemihydrate, and the other part is combined with the obtained purified phosphoric acid.
