Abstract
Electrode grade petroleum coke production process, comprising: supplying pre-distilled virgin crude oil to the bottom of a coker fractionator; the supply of thermal tar from a thermal cracking fractionator to the bottom of the first operation coking fractionator; removing a mixture of predestined virgin crude oil and thermal tar from the bottom of the coker fractionator of the first operation; and the passage of said mixture to a coker oven; heating the mixture from the third operation to approximately 496.1-501.6ºC in the coker oven and the passage of such mixture to a delayed coking drum that operates at a pressure of 4.57 to 5.27 kg/cm2, approximately and at a steam outlet temperature of approximately 451.6 to 459.9ºC; the removal of coking diesel from the upper part of the coking drum of the fourth operation and its passage to a deflagration zone of the coking fractionator of the first operation; the fractionation of said coker diesel from the fifth operation in said coker fractionator to produce a heavy diesel and a light diesel; the passage of the heavy coking diesel from the sixth operation to an overload drum and then to the thermal cracking fractionator of the second operation, the passage of the light coking diesel from the sixth operation to the thermal cracking fractionator of the second operation; the passage of the light coker diesel from the eighth operation to a light oil cracking furnace and the return of the product from this furnace to a point near the bottom of said thermal cracking fractionator, the passage of the heavy coking diesel from the seventh operation to a heavy oil cracking furnace and the return of the product from this furnace to a point close to the bottom of said thermal cracking fractionator, the removal of thermal tar from the bottom of said thermal cracking fractionator and the passage thereof to the bottom of the coking fractionator as in the second operation; the removal of coke from the bottom of the delayed coking drum of the fourth operation and the continuous repetition of the first to the twelfth operations.
