A process for preparing a fluid dielectric product comprising: isomerizing a halogenated biphenyl comprising a mixture of isomers having from 1 to about 5 halogen atoms per diphenyl molecule and an average halogen content of from about 20% to 60%, by weight, and b) recovering said isomerized halogenated biphenyl product comprising a mixture of isomers having substantially the same average halogen content and the same relative proportions of mono-, di-, tri-, tetra and pentahalogenated isomers as biphenyl non-isomerized halogenated.
