1315980 Isomerization of dichlorobutenes BP CHEMICALS Ltd 10 Nov 1971 [3 Dec 1970] 57467/70 Heading C2C One of 1,4 - dichloro - butene - 2 and 3,4- dichloro-butene-1 is isomerized to the other using as catalyst copper naphthenate and an organic compound containing two alcoholic hydroxy groups in which the hydroxyl-bearing carbon atoms are separated by not more than one carbon atom. The dichlorobutene starting material may be the direct chlorination product of butadiene. Diols specified are ethylene glycol, propane-1,2- and 1,3-diols, 3-methoxypropane-1,2-diol, and butane-1,3- and 2,3-diols.
