Abstract
Improvements in liquid fuel injection and pumping apparatus for supplying fuel to an internal combustion engine, of the type of apparatus comprising an accumulator for storing high-pressure fuel, a pump for charging said accumulator and a differential valve for controlling the fuel flow to an orifice, the orifice for directing fuel into a combustion space of the combustion engine, characterized in that the differential valve includes a valve element that is forced into the closed position by fluid under pressure and that is open by fluid under pressure derived from the accumulator, a fuel control valve being provided to direct the fuel circulation to the differential valve, said fuel control valve including a valve element that is lifted from its seat to allow fuel to flow to the differential valve and a piston member arranged downstream of the valve element and which moves after closing the valve element on its seat, to decrease the pressure downstream of the fuel control valve.
