Process for the synthesis of 3', 4'-dideoxy-kanamycin B starting from kanamycin B, which includes the protection of amino groups and of all or part of hydroxyl groups apart from 3' and 4'-hydroxyl groups of kanamycin B by a conventional method, sulfonylating the 3'and 4'-hydroxyl groups to provide a derivative having disulfonic ester groups, removing the 3', 4'-disulfonic esters by the usual method to give 3'compounds, 4'- unsaturated, reducing compound 3', 4'- unsaturated and removing residual protecting groups.
