Abstract
A process for the conversion and desulfurization of a hydrocarbon, sulphidated filler material of which at least about 10.0% boils above a temperature of about 566ºC to give low-boiling hydrocarbon products, the process comprising : a) heating said charge to a temperature between approximately 260 and 399ºC; b) contacting said heated filler material with a catalytic compound in a catalytic reaction zone, and reacting therein said filler material with hydrogen at a pressure greater than 68 gauge atmospheres; c) separating the resulting effluent from the reaction zone in a first separation zone, at substantially the same pressure as that maintained in said catalytic reaction zone, to originate a first vapor phase and a first liquid phase; d) separating the first vapor phase in the second separation zone urn, at substantially the same pressure as that maintained in said first separation zone, to originate a second hydrogen-rich vapor phase and a second liquid phase; e) fractionating at least a portion of said first liquid phase in a non-catalytic reaction zone; f) introducing the effluent resulting from said non-catalytic reaction zone into a fractionation zone; g) extracting from said fractionation zone a heavy hydrocarbon stream boiling substantially above a temperature of about 343ºC, and introducing said stream into a third separation zone; and h) separating said heavy hydrocarbon stream therein, at a reduced pressure comprised between a sub-atmospheric pressure and about 3.4 gauge atmospheres, to originate a third liquid phase containing distilled hydrocarbons and a residue concentrate.
