Abstract

A motor grader comprises a rear tractor unit 12 connected about an upright axis 23 to a grader tool-carrying boom 13 in turn connected about an upright axis 32 to a wheeled bogie 14. The bogie 14 is swingably supported about a longitudinal axis 37 on the housing 94 of the axle 96 of the bogie 14. A drive to the axle 96 extends from the motor of the tractor unit through the beam and down along the axis 32 of the hitch 31 between the beam and the bogie. The axle 96 is connected to input shafts of planet gearings 97 coupled to wheels 52 of the bogie. The wheels 52 turn about mountings 54 having part spherical couplings with the housings 57, 58 of axle 96. The part-spherical couplings allow of pivoting of the mountings 54 by jacks 64, 66 about longitudinal axes 61, 62.
