Abstract

A generally rectangular shadow mask 2 provided with an edge 3 extending away from the screen, is supported from the envelope by means of resilient suspension strips 4 each situated near a corner of the mask and extending in a plane containing the axis of the tube from a point on the inner side of the edge to a point on the envelope beyond the edge so that it skirts the edge. Each strip 4 may be secured at one end to a member 6 which bridges the corner of the mask, or the strip may be bent so that it constitutes a bridging member. The other end of each strip may bear on a stud 5 provided on the face-plate 1, as shown in Fig. 2, or may be provided with a pin (9, Figs. 3 and 4, not shown) which is clamped in a recess (8) in a thickened part (7) of the face-plate.
