Abstract

A composition comprising a mixture of 100 p.b.w. of at least one polyol and 60 to 300 p.b.w. of a tris chloropropyl phosphate may be reacted with an organic polyisocyanate in the presence of a foaming agent to form a polyurethane foam which may contain isocyanurate rings. The polyol may be a monomeric polyol or polymeric polyols such as polyether and polyester polyols. To prepare foams containing an isocyanurate ring structure at least 1À7 equivalents of isocyanate group for each equivalent of active hydrogen in the reaction mixture is preferably used, the polyol is suitably a polyesterification product having an OH No. of 200 to 700 and not more than 1À5 branch points for each 1000 units of molecular weight and the reaction is carried out in the presence of catalysts for the polymerization of isocyanates, e.g. potassium acetate. Conventional blowing agents, surface active agents and catalysts may be added to the reaction mixture.
