Abstract

A supply cut-off valve for oil burning installations includes a valve member 4 provided with a sealing ring 18 retained in a re-entrant recess, the cross-section of the ring being substantially the same as that of the recess so that it fills the recess completely and the risk of blowout of the ring is reduced. The recess is formed by a flat base surface on a member 17 and conical side surfaces on this member and on a sleeve 22 which is press-fitted to the member 17. The valve member is biased in the opening direction by a spring 38 and loaded in the closing direction by a spring-urged piston 5 which is responsive to the inlet pressure. The piston has a port 10 obturated by a port 16 of the valve and controls a by-pass port (not shown) so as to maintain a constant inlet pressure. A resilient ring check valve 21 allows reverse flow through the valve member in the event of excess pressure on the outlet side.
