Abstract

(3,5 - Diamino - 6 - halo - pyrazinoyl and -pyrazinamido)-guanidines of the general formula wherein R is chlorine or bromine R1 and R2 are each hydrogen, C 1-5 alkyl, C 3-5 alkenyl or C 4-8 (cycloalkyl-alkyl) R3 is hydrogen, C 1-5 alkyl, hydroxy-C 1-5 alkyl, phenyl-C 1-5 alkyl, (halophenyl) - C 1-5 alkyl, (C 1-5 alkyl-phenyl) - C 1-5 alkyl, (C 1-5 alkoxyphenyl)-C 1-5 alkyl or pyridyl- C 1-5 alkyl R4 is hydrogen, C 1-5 alkyl or phenyl- C 1-5 alkyl or when R3 and R4 are each C 1-5 alkyl they can be linked together to form a cyclic structure with the nitrogen atom to which they are attached, thereby forming a group of the structure where x is 4, 5, 6 or 7 R5 is hydrogen or C 1-5 alkyl or when R4 and R5 are each C 1-5 alkyl they can be linked together with the nitrogen atoms to which they are attached to form a cyclic structure wherein y is 2 or 3 and n is 0 or 1 and acid addition salts thereof are prepared by reaction under anhydrous conditions in the presence of a solvent having a boiling-point of at least 100 C. of a 3,5-diamino-6-halopyrazinoic acid and a guanidine or aminoguanidine of the respective formul[mu] followed optionally by salification.
