Abstract
A travelling yarn 1 is heated by forward and reversed passage over the external curved surface of an internally steam-or electrically -heated, cylindrical member 5 housed in a chamber 4. The yarn is guided by eyelets 9, 10, pins 7, 8, and a wheel 6, which is normally maintained in operative position by a weight or a spring (not shown), and passes directly from the heater into a stuffer-box crimper 2. A hinged access door 11 carries supports 16, 17, for a tube 15 on which slides a sleeve 13 carrying the rotation shaft of wheel 6. A piston 20, connected to the shaft by a rope 19 passing over a pulley 18, is raised pneumatically, to allow the wheel 6 to lower to threading-up position, and is allowed to raise the wheel 6, under its weight, to the operative height thereof.
