Abstract

A thermoplastic elastomeric composition comprises a block copolymer of the formula A-B-A where each A is an independently selected polymer block of a vinyl substituted diene hydrocarbon and B is a polymer block of a conjugated diene hydrocarbon, and 5 to 200 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of the block copolyme of a polymer of a vinyl substituted aromatic hydrocarbon such as crystal grade polystyrene, poly-alphamethyl styrene, polyvinyl toluenes, polyvinyl xylenes, high impact polystyrenes such as interpolymers of styrene with polybutadienes, styrene-butadiene copolymers, or polyisoprenes. The compositions may also include other ingredients such as extender oils, e.g. naphthenic hydrocarbons, fillers and pigments such as carbon blacks, TiO2, calcium carbonate, clays and iron oxides, and extender resins such as coumarone-indene resins. The compositions are formed by conventional techniques, preferably solution master batching, and mainly used in the manufacture of shoes.
