Abstract

A process for preparing a polyurethane cell product comprising reacting a mixture of (1) a polyol containing at least four hydroxyl groups per molecule and consisting essentially of carbon, hydrogen and oxygen atoms (2) an organic polyisocyanate and (3) a polyol containing phosphorus, which is the reaction product of an alcohol oxide containing 2 to 6 carbon atoms per molecule with an acid ester, of an alcohol containing 1 to 4 hydroxyl groups per molecule and an acid containing a phosphoryl or thiophosphoryl group; (4) a catalyst for urethane formation and (3) a swelling agent; and allowing the mixture to form cells and vulcanize, the polyisocyanate (2) having used about 2.3 to 6 isocyanate groups per molecule and essentially containing no urethane linkages.
