Abstract

Cobalamin is extracted in aqueous solution in the form of compounds having dissociable anions, and such anions are replaced by OH-ions by contact with ion exchange resins, hydroxycobalamin subsequently being precipitated by addition of acetone to the solution. The dissociable anions may be chloride, bromide, sulphate or nitrate ions cyanocobalamin is excluded. An example is given. Specification 1,007,972 is referred to.
