Abstract

Salts of hydromellonic acid are prepared by fusing a metal thiocyanate with dicyandiamine or melamine and recrystallizing the product from water in the presence of an absorbent such as melem. The free hydromellonic acid may be obtained by subsequent treatment of the corresponding salts with mineral acid.
