Abstract

A method of increasing the fluid permeability of a subsurface land formation that has at least one fracture extending from the wall of a borehole radially within the formation and in which the fracture walls exert superior pressure at about 420 kgs/cm2, characterized by injecting into said well bore and therefore within said fracture a fluid suspension of particles of a manufactured material capable of receiving a shape that is metallic, ceramic or plastic, or mixtures thereof, said particles being characterized by having a resistance to fragmentation and a resistance to deformation such that the air permeability of a solid, multi-layer filling of said particles decreases less than 50 times when the pressure on said filling increases from about 420 to about 1400 kgs/cm2 and said suspension is characterized by containing a concentration of said particles sufficient to depo placing a solid multilayer filling of said particles in said fracture.
