Abstract

Un sistema para determinar la posición de una unidad receptora móvil (10) que comprende: una pluralidad de estaciones transmisoras estáticas (4, 6) configuradas cada una para transmitir una señal ultrasónica (40, 44, 46, 42) que comprende una firma de desplazamiento de fase (40) específica para la estación transmisora estática; una unidad receptora móvil (10) configurada para recibir una señal ultrasónica (40, 44, 46, 42) desde una de las estaciones transmisoras (4, 6); medios de procesamiento (26; 14) configurados para usar la firma recibida (40) para identificar la estación transmisora fuente; y medios de procesamiento (26; 14) configurados para usar la señal recibida y la identidad de la estación transmisora fuente para determinar la información referente a la posición de la unidad receptora móvil, caracterizado porque cada firma comprende un primer patrón (30), codificado por modulación por desplazamiento de fase binaria (BPSK) en una primera portadora, y un segundo patrón (34), codificado por BPSK en una segunda portadora, en el que la primera y segunda portadora tienen la misma frecuencia, y en el que la primera portadora está 90 grados fuera de fase con la segunda portadora.
