Abstract

A combustion chamber (10) for a gas appliance for water heating which comprises metal panels constituting a back (16), two sides attached to the back and a detachable front (20). Sheets of refractory material line the chamber and the front panel (20) and front sheet (22) are readily removable for access to the burners and the heat exchanger. The front panel has a flap at the top and/or bottom turned inwardly. The upper flap (30), if provided, deflects combustion products and the lower flap (28), if provided, obstructs radiation from the burners.
