Abstract

A container is moulded from sheet plastics material and has a body 10 the side wall 11 of which has a bottom edge 12 or land by which it may rest upon a surface and a base 14 which is spaced above that bottom edge or land, the side wall being folded inwards at the bottom edge or land to form a double thickness between the edge or land and the base, the base inside the cup being of similar configuration to the cross-section of the body and sufficiently large to receive and support the bottom edge or land of a further such cup when nested in the cup. The upper edge of the container may have a chamfer 19 and a flange 13 to which a cover plate may be secured by welding, adhesive etc. The base 14 is provided with an annular stiffening ridge 17 and a chamfer 18.
