Son conocidas en el mercado hojas exteriores ligeras de fachada ventilada. La denominación de exterior le viene dada por ser el paramento que se divisa desde el exterior del edificio. La denominación de ligera le viene dada por estar concebido de manera que se ancla a un soporte existente, sea una pared de ladrillo o sea otra hoja de mayor capacidad portante. Dichas hojas delgadas están concebidas para transmitir los esfuerzos de viento a través de los anclajes hasta la estructura portante y ésta última transmite dichos esfuerzos a la estructura del edificio. La denominación de ventilada viene dada porque los anclajes al soporte existente tienen una dimensión tal que crean un espacio entre el plano de la hoja ligera y el plano del soporte, espacio por el que circula el aire exterior y mejora el comportamiento térmico del edificio.
