Abstract

Un método de cierre hermético transversal por ultrasonidos para cerrar herméticamente paredes (9) de un material (2) de empaquetado lleno de un producto alimenticio que se puede verter, en el que el material de empaquetado comprende al menos una capa de cubierta de material plástico de cierre hermético por calor; permitiendo el método apretar dos paredes (9) del material (2) de empaquetado de manera localizada entre una primera y una segunda cara (17; 21) de las respectivas mordazas (3, 4) de un dispositivo (1) de cierre hermético transversal, para así comprimir las paredes (9) a lo largo de una primera parte (15) a una primera presión (P1) y someter la primera parte (15) a vibraciones ultrasónicas para fundir el material plástico de cierre hermético por calor y cerrar herméticamente las paredes (9); estando caracterizado el método por comprimir las paredes (9) una contra otra por medio de dichas mordazas (3, 4) a una segunda presión (P2), menor que la primera presión (P1), a lo largo de una segunda parte (28) adyacente a la primera parte (15), para así formar una barrera que evita el contacto entre el material fundido de la primera parte (15) y el producto alimenticio.

Description

Método de cierre hermético transversal por ultrasonidos y dispositivo para cerrar herméticamente paredes de un material de empaquetado lleno de un producto alimenticio.
La presente invención se refiere a un método de cierre hermético transversal por ultrasonidos para cerrar herméticamente paredes de un material de empaquetado lleno de un producto alimenticio que se puede verter.
Los métodos de cierre hermético del tipo anterior son empleados por dispositivos de cierre hermético en máquinas de empaquetar productos alimenticios que se pueden verter, por ejemplo zumo de frutas, vino, salsa de tomate, leche pasteurizada o de larga duración (UHT), etc., y en los que los paquetes están formados a partir de un tubo continuo de material de empaquetado definido por una banda cerrada herméticamente de manera longitudinal.
El material de empaquetado tiene una estructura en capas múltiples que comprende una capa de material de papel cubierta por ambos lados de capas de material plástico de cierre hermético por calor, por ejemplo, polietileno; y en el caso de paquetes asépticos para productos de larga duración, tal como la leche UHT, el material de empaquetado comprende también una capa de material de barrera superpuesta sobre una capa de material plástico de cierre hermético por calor, y a su vez cubierta por otra capa de material plástico de cierre hermético por calor que define la cara interior del paquete que contacta finalmente con el producto alimenticio.
La banda de material de empaquetado es desenrollada de un carrete, doblada en un cilindro, y cerrada herméticamente de manera longitudinal para formar, de una manera conocida, un tubo cerrado herméticamente en de manera longitudinal, vertical y continuo. El tubo de material de empaquetado es llenado de manera continua con el producto alimenticio que se puede verter, y entregado luego a una unidad de formación y de cierre hermético transversal para formar los paquetes individuales. La unidad de formación y de cierre hermético comprende dichos dispositivos de cierre hermético transversal, cada uno de los cuales comprende dos mordazas para apretar y cerrar herméticamente de manera transversal el tubo a fin de formar paquetes con forma de almohada, que son separados uno de otro cortando las partes cerradas herméticamente entre los paquetes. Una de las mordazas comprende un generador de vibración ultrasónica para excitar las moléculas del material plástico de cierre hermético por calor sujeto entre las mordazas, y fundir el material plástico de cierre hermético por calor para cerrar herméticamente las paredes. En otras palabras, las mordazas deforman y comprimen localmente las paredes del tubo en la etapa de cierre hermético transversal por ultrasonidos.
Una vez que se completa la operación del cierre hermético transversal, se activa una cuchilla para cortar el tubo de material de empaquetado a lo largo de la línea central de la parte cerrada herméticamente o entre dos partes cerradas herméticamente, y cortar así un paquete en forma de almohada separándolo del extremo final del tubo de material de
empaquetado.
Los paquetes en forma de almohada son enviados luego hacia una estación de plegado final donde son doblados mecánicamente formando los paquetes acabados.
Puesto que la eficiencia del cierre hermético por ultrasonidos es directamente proporcional a la presión ejercida por las mordazas sobre las paredes del tubo, las mordazas se juntan por presión con una fuerza considerable para ejercer una presión relativamente alta a lo largo de la parte de contacto o parte llamada de cierre hermético de las paredes.
Mientras que, por un lado, ayuda a la fusión por mediante ultrasonidos del material plástico de cierre hermético por calor, esta presión elevada es, por otro lado, perjudicial en el caso de cierre hermético transversal, al hacer salir hacia fuera parte del material plástico de cierre hermético por calor, que, cuando es fundido y sometido a la presión ejercida por las mordazas, pasa desde la parte de cierre hermético transversal hacia el tubo que contiene alimenticio, empieza a formar bultos pegados a la parte de cierre hermético.
Puesto que las paredes del tubo del material de empaquetado convergen hacia la parte de cierre hermético, los bultos son apretados entre las paredes y pueden producirse desgarros del material de empaquetado o en cualquiera de sus capas. Véase por ejemplo el documento EP 76966 A1, que describe un método y aparato de acuerdo con los preámbulos de las reivindicaciones 1 y 7.
Es un objeto de la presente invención proporcionar un método de cierre hermético transversal por ultrasonidos diseñado para eliminar los inconvenientes de la técnica conocida, y que, en particular, no deteriora el material de empaquetado.
De acuerdo con la presente invención, hay provisto un método de cierre hermético transversal por ultrasonidos para cerrar herméticamente las paredes de un material de empaquetado lleno con un producto alimenticio que se puede verter, como está reivindicado en la reivindicación 1.
La barrera impide el contacto directo entre el material termoplástico fundido y el producto alimenticio, y por lo tanto la formación de bultos.
La presente invención también se refiere a un dispositivo de cierre hermético transversal por ultrasonidos para cerrar herméticamente las paredes de un material de empaquetado llenado con un producto alimenticio que se puede verter.
De acuerdo con la presente invención, hay provisto un dispositivo de cierre hermético transversal por ultrasonidos para cerrar herméticamente las paredes de un material de empaquetado llenado con un producto alimenticio que se puede verter, como está reivindicado en la reivindicación 7.
El dispositivo de cierre hermético transversal de la reivindicación 7 es particularmente ventajoso por permitir que el método de la reivindicación 1 sea implementado debido a los contornos de la primera y segunda cara de las mordazas.
Una realización preferida, no limitativa, de la presente invención será descrita por medio de un ejemplo con referencia a los dibujos adjuntos, en los que:
la figura 1 muestra una vista en perspectiva de un dispositivo de cierre hermético transversal de acuerdo con la presente invención;
la figura 2 muestra una sección esquemática a mayor escala y con partes eliminadas para conseguir mejor claridad, del dispositivo de cierre hermético transversal de la figura 1 en una etapa de funcionamiento;
la figura 3 muestra una sección a escala todavía mayor del dispositivo de cierre hermético transversal en la etapa de funcionamiento de la figura 2.
La figura 1 muestra de manera general un dispositivo de cierre hermético 1 transversal por ultrasonidos para una máquina para empaquetar productos alimenticios que se pueden verter, tales como leche pasteurizada o UHT, zumo de frutas, vino, etc.
Con referencia a la figura 2, el dispositivo 1 permite formar paquetes cerrados herméticamente C del producto alimenticio que se puede verter a partir de un tubo 2 de material de empaquetado formado mediante el plegado de manera longitudinal y el cierre hermético de una banda que comprende un material de plástico de cierre hermético por calor, y llenado con el producto alimenticio aguas arriba desde el dispositivo 1.
El tubo 2 es entregado al dispositivo 1 de manera conocida a lo largo de una trayectoria vertical P que se extiende a lo largo de un eje A.
Con referencia a la figura 1, el dispositivo 1 comprende dos mordazas enfrentadas 3 y 4 que se extienden en una dirección D1, transversalmente con respecto al eje A y soportado de manera conocida por una unidad conocida de cierre hermético y de formación no mostrada en los dibujos adjuntos. La mordaza 3 comprende un martillo 5, y un generador de ultrasonidos 6 unido al martillo 5; y la mordaza 4 comprende un yunque 7 que se enfrenta al martillo 5, y un dispositivo de corte 8.
En referencia a la figura 2, el tubo 2 es alimentado de manera continua a lo largo de la trayectoria P, mientras cada mordaza 3, 4 es alimentada de manera conocida por dicha unidad (no mostrada) a lo largo de una trayectoria anular respectiva (no mostrada) que comprende una parte T paralela a la trayectoria P del tubo 2. A lo largo de las partes T, las mordazas 3 y 4 se ajustan a la configuración de la figura 2, en la que las mordazas 3 y 4 son presionadas una contra la otra para deformar localmente el tubo 2. El tubo 2 es substancialmente cilíndrico y es deformado por las mordazas 3 y 4 para formar, a lo largo del tubo 2, dos paredes 9 opuestas que hacen contacto entre sí.
El martillo 5 se extiende en la dirección D1 y comprende una parte central 10 para deformar y comprimir las paredes 9 del tubo 2, y que tiene una ranura 11; y una parte exterior 12, que proporciona substancialmente la deformación del tubo 2 y mantiene juntas las paredes 9.
El yunque 7 se extiende en la dirección D1 y tiene un hueco 13 alineado con la ranura 11; y un dispositivo de corte 8 comprende una cuchilla 14 alojada dentro de un hueco 13 y movible hacia detrás y hacia delante con respecto al yunque 7 para penetrar en la ranura 11 del martillo 5 y cortar las paredes 9 una vez que éstas están cerradas herméticamente de manera transversal. Las mordazas 3 y 4 cierran herméticamente las paredes 9 en dos partes 15 de cierre hermético, y dejan las paredes 9 separadas por una parte 16 entre las dos partes 15 y alineada substancialmente con el hueco 13 y la ranura 11.
En la figura 2, las mordazas 3 y 4 están acopladas para expulsar el producto alimenticio entre las paredes 9, y son empujadas una contra otra para obtener una presión P1 en las partes 15, las cuales son barridas por las vibraciones ultrasónicas generadas por el generador 6. La acción combinada de la presión P1 y de las vibraciones ultrasónicas funde el material plástico de cierre hermético por calor y proporciona el cierre hermético de las paredes 9 en las partes de cierre hermético 15.
La parte central 10 del martillo 5 tiene una cara plana 17 quebrada por una ranura 11 y un yunque 7 que mira hacia ella, el cual tiene dos rebordes 18 elevados paralelos a la ranura 11 y sobre cualquier lado de ella. Con referencia a la figura 3, cada reborde 18 está definido por dos escalones 19, 20, de manera que el yunque 7 tiene una cara 21 escalonada dividida en dos partes simétricas de manera especular por un hueco 13. Cada parte comprende una superficie 22 paralela a la cara 17 y a partir de la cual sobresale el reborde 18; una superficie 23 que define el escalón 19 y paralela a la superficie 22; y una superficie 24 que define el escalón 20 y paralela a la superficie 22. La cara 21 comprende también una superficie 25 inclinada que une las superficies 23 y 22; una superficie 26 perpendicular a la superficie 22 y que une las superficies 23 y 24; y una superficie 27 inclinada que une la superficie 24 al hueco 13.
En el uso presente, además de las partes 15 y 16 descritas anteriormente, el contorno de la cara 21 define también, a lo largo de las paredes 9, dos partes 28 (solamente una ilustrada en la figura 3), a lo largo de la cual, las paredes 9 están sujetas a una presión P2 menor que la presión P1. Esto es, la capacidad de deformación del material de empaquetado y el contorno de la cara 21 permiten que las presiones P1 y P2 sean obtenidas en las partes adyacentes respectivas 15 y 28 de las paredes 9 mediante la aplicación de una única fuerza de compresión sobre las mordazas 3 y 4. La diferencia entre presiones P1 y P2 puede ser seleccionada mediante la definición apropiada de la geometría de la cara 21. Más específicamente, el escalón 20 tiene una altura H1 con respecto a la superficie 22, mientras que el escalón 19 tiene una altura H2, menor que H1, con respecto a la superficie 22, de modo que la diferencia entre las presiones P1 y P2 esté relacionada con la diferencia entre las alturas H1 y H2 de los escalones 20 y 19.
Los escalones 19 y 20 son de la misma longitud en la dirección D1, y tienen anchuras respectivas del mismo orden de magnitud en una dirección paralela a la trayectoria P.
La presión P2 es seleccionada de este modo para evitar que el material plástico de cierre hermético por calor se funda en la parte 28, pero, al mismo tiempo, para retener el material fundido en la parte 15. Esto es, la parte 28 define una barrera que evita el contacto entre el material plástico fundido y el producto alimenticio.
En el uso presente, las mordazas 3 y 4 se juntan y son presionadas una contra otra de manera conocida como se describe aquí en parte. La compresión de las mordazas 3 y 4 define, a lo largo de las paredes 9, dos partes 15 sujetas a una presión P1 en los escalones 20; una parte 16 que se extiende entre las dos partes 15 y donde las paredes 9 simplemente se juntan; y dos partes 28 adyacentes a las partes 15 respectivas y donde las paredes 9 entran en contacto una con otra y están sujetas a una presión P2 en los escalones 19. Mientras las mordazas 3 y 4 son comprimidas, la acción combinada de la presión P1 y de las vibraciones ultrasónicas produce, en las partes 15 de cierre
hermético, la fusión localizada del material plástico de cierre hermético por calor, el cual, sujeto a la presión P1, es expulsado en parte hacia la parte 16 y es retenido por las partes 28 adyacentes a las partes 15 de cierre hermético. Inmediatamente adyacente a cada parte 28, el material plástico de cierre hermético por calor puede alojarse posiblemente entre las paredes 9. Por efecto de la presión P2 que se distribuye equitativamente a lo largo de la parte 28, el material plástico de cierre hermético por calor es guiado por las paredes 9 para adoptar, sin embargo, una forma laminar, y se ajusta sin entrar en contacto con el producto alimenticio o adoptando formas que pueden deteriorar el material de empaquetado.
En otras palabras, las partes 15, 16 y 28 tienen forma de tiras que se extienden en la dirección D1.
Aunque la descripción detallada actual se refiere a un contorno particular de las caras 17 y 21, pueden hacerse claramente numerosos cambios sin apartarse, sin embargo, del alcance de la presente invención. Por ejemplo, en una primera variación no mostrada en los dibujos adjuntos, la cara del yunque es plana, y dos rebordes elevados, cada uno definido por dos escalones, se extienden a lo largo del martillo. En una variación adicional no mostrada, tanto el martillo como el yunque comprenden sendos rebordes elevados que cooperan mutuamente para generar dos presiones distintas dadas en las partes adyacentes de las paredes del tubo.
Claramente pueden realizarse cambios en el dispositivo y en el método de cierre hermético de acuerdo con la presente invención sin apartarse, sin embargo, del alcance de las reivindicaciones adjuntas.
En particular, el dispositivo y el método de cierre hermético pueden ser utilizados para cerrar herméticamente paquetes preformados y llenados individualmente hechos a partir de elementos en bruto, en contraposición a un tubo continuo de material de empaquetado.

Claims (11)

1. Un método de cierre hermético transversal por ultrasonidos para cerrar herméticamente paredes (9) de un material (2) de empaquetado lleno de un producto alimenticio que se puede verter, en el que el material de empaquetado comprende al menos una capa de cubierta de material plástico de cierre hermético por calor; permitiendo el método apretar dos paredes (9) del material (2) de empaquetado de manera localizada entre una primera y una segunda cara (17; 21) de las respectivas mordazas (3, 4) de un dispositivo (1) de cierre hermético transversal, para así comprimir las paredes (9) a lo largo de una primera parte (15) a una primera presión (P1) y someter la primera parte (15) a vibraciones ultrasónicas para fundir el material plástico de cierre hermético por calor y cerrar herméticamente las paredes (9); estando caracterizado el método por comprimir las paredes (9) una contra otra por medio de dichas mordazas (3, 4) a una segunda presión (P2), menor que la primera presión (P1), a lo largo de una segunda parte (28) adyacente a la primera parte (15), para así formar una barrera que evita el contacto entre el material fundido de la primera parte (15) y el producto alimenticio.
2. Un método de acuerdo con la reivindicación 1, caracterizado porque la primera parte (15) y la segunda parte (28) equivalen a dos tiras adyacentes definidas a lo largo de las paredes que hacen contacto mutuo (9).
3. Un método de acuerdo con las reivindicaciones 1 ó 2, caracterizado porque dicho material de empaquetado define un tubo (2) lleno de dicho producto alimenticio que se puede verter y alimentado a lo largo de una trayectoria (P).
4. Un método de acuerdo con la reivindicación 3, caracterizado porque dicha primera y dicha segunda parte (15, 28) tienen substancialmente la misma longitud en una dirección (D1) transversal con respecto a la trayectoria (P).
5. Un método de acuerdo con cualquiera de las reivindicaciones anteriores, caracterizado por cerrar herméticamente dichas paredes (9) de manera simultánea a lo largo de dos primeras partes (15) distintas, separadas por una tercera parte (16) de dichas paredes (9) y por cortar las paredes (9) del tubo (2) a lo largo de dicha tercera parte (16) por medio de una cuchilla (14).
6. Un método de acuerdo con la reivindicación 5, caracterizado por formar dos segundas partes (28) adyacentes a sus respectivas primeras partes (15); siendo cada primera parte (15) adyacente, por una cara, a una segunda parte (28) respectiva y, por la cara opuesta, a la tercera parte (16).
7. Un dispositivo de cierre hermético transversal por ultrasonidos para llevar a cabo el método reivindicado en al menos una de las reivindicaciones 1 a 6; comprendiendo el dispositivo (1) un generador de ultrasonidos (6), y una primera y una segunda mordaza (3, 4) a lo largo de las cuales se extienden respectivamente una primera y una segunda cara (17, 21); estando caracterizado el dispositivo (1) porque la primera y la segunda cara (17, 21) están contorneadas de manera que comprimen dichas paredes (9) a lo largo de la primera y de la segunda parte (15, 28) a dicha primera y segunda presión respectivamente, cuando la primera y la segunda mordaza (3, 4) aprietan dichas paredes (9).
8. Un dispositivo de acuerdo con la reivindicación 7, caracterizado porque dicha primera cara (17) es plana y dicha segunda cara (21) es escalonada.
9. Un dispositivo de acuerdo con la reivindicación 8, caracterizado porque dicha segunda cara (21) comprende un primer y un segundo escalón (19, 20) adyacentes uno a otro y que miran hacia la primera cara (17).
10. Un dispositivo de acuerdo con la reivindicación 9, caracterizado porque la segunda cara (21) comprende una primera superficie (22) paralela a la primera cara (17); una segunda superficie (23) que define el primer escalón (19) y es paralela a la primera cara (17); y una tercera superficie (24) que define el segundo escalón (20) y es paralela a la primera cara (17).
11. Un dispositivo de acuerdo con la reivindicación 10, caracterizado porque dicha segunda cara (21) comprende una cuarta superficie (25) que une la primera y la segunda superficie (22, 23) y que se inclina con respecto a la primera superficie (22); y una quinta superficie (26) que une la segunda y la tercera superficie (23, 24) y es perpendicular a la segunda superficie (23).
