Abstract
Un método para remover contaminantes líquidos volátiles de un volumen contaminado de tierra, extendiéndose el volumen contaminado por encima de una capa no contaminada de tierra, comprendiendo el método la penetración del volumen contaminado con al menos un sondeo, de forma que un sondeo de inyección de calor penetre en el volumen contaminado y al menos un sondeo penetre en la capa no contaminada; caracterizado porque el método comprende además las etapas de: aplicar calor desde el sondeo dentro de la capa no contaminada hacia la capa no contaminada hasta que la temperatura de una parte sustancial de la capa no contaminada que está contigua a la capa contaminada esté al menos a la temperatura del punto de ebullición de los líquidos contaminados; y aplicar calor desde el sondeo dentro del volumen contaminado hacia el volumen contaminado en el que la temperatura del volumen contaminado se eleva hasta el punto de ebullición de los líquidos contaminados tras una parte sustancial de la capa no contaminada, que está contigua a la capa contaminada, esté aproximadamente en el punto de ebullición de los líquidos contaminados.
