EL FOTOSENSIBILIZADOR GENERA OXIGENO DE SINGLETE Y ACTIVA EL COMPUESTO QUIMICOLUMINISCENTE CUANDO ESTA EN CONTACTO. POR CONSIGUIENTE LOS COMPUESTOS QUIMICOLUMINISCENTES ACTIVADOS PRODUCEN LUZ. LA CANTIDAD DE LUZ PRODUCIDA ESTA RELACIONADA CON LA CANTIDAD DE ANALITA EN EL MEDIO. PREFERIBLEMENTE, AL MENOS UN COMPUESTO DEL FOTOSENSIBILIZADOR Y EL QUIMICOLUMINISCENTE ESTA ASOCIADO A UNA SUPERFICIE QUE ES NORMALMENTE UNA PARTICULA SUSPENDIBLE, Y UN ELEMENTO DEL PAR DE FUSION ESPECIFICO ESTA LIMITADO A LA MISMA.
