EL HIDROXIDO CALCICO (CA(OH)2) SE REQUIERE POR UNA PARTE PARA MANTENER EN HORMIGONES REFORZADOS Y MORTEROS UNA ALCANILIDAD CON UN VALOR DE PH MAYOR QUE 9, INCLUSO DURANTE LOS LARGOS PROCESOS DE CARBONATACION Y PASIVACION DEL ACERO, POR OTRA PARTE EN LAS PAREDES O EN LOS MORTEROS DE ARGAMASA PARA PERMITIR EL SELLADO, DONDE PUEDEN APARECER PROCESOS DE TRANSFORMACION EN EL CURADO DE GRIETAS. MEDIANTE LA PRODUCCION Y EL USO DE HIDRATO CALCICO PRENSADO ES POSIBLE OBTENER AGLOMERANTES RICOS EN HIDRATO CALCICO PARA HORMIGONES Y MORTEROS. PARA ESTE PROPOSITO, LOS HIDRATOS CALCICOS DISPONIBLES SON PRENSADOS DENTRO DE PIEZAS MOLDEADAS DE VARIAS FORMAS Y TAMAÑOS, A CONTINUACION APLASTADOS Y TAMIZADOS SI ES NECESARIO. EL AGLOMERANTE RICO EN HIDRATO CALCICO PRODUCIDO CON HIDRATO DE CALCIO PRENSADO REQUIERE MENOS AGUA DURANTE SU PROCESADO EN HORMIGONES Y MORTEROS DE FORMA QUE LA CONTRACCION SE REDUCE ESENCIALMENTE EN COMPARACION CON EL USO DE LOS HIDRATOS DE CALCIO DISPONIBLES COMERCIALMENTE. ESTE AGLOMERANTE RICO EN HIDRATO CALCICO ES UTILIZABLE PARA HORMIGONES REFORZADOS Y NO REFORZADOS Y CONSTRUCCION DE MORTEROS, EN EDIFICIOS NUEVOS ASI COMO EN LA RENOVACION DE EDIFICIOS, Y PARA PAREDES Y MORTEROS DE ARGAMASA, ESPECIALMENTE EN EL CAMPO DE LA PRESERVACION DE MONUMENTOS.
