UN PROCESO PARA PREPARAR UNA EMULSION DE ACEITE EN AGUA DE UN MEDICAMENTO QUE TIENE UNA MUY POBRE DISOLUCION EN AGUA, DONDE EL MEDICAMENTO (POR EJ., AMFOTERICINA B) SE DISUELVE EN UNA SOLUCION DE UN PH ALTO O BAJO ANTES DE LA FORMACION DE LA EMULSION DEL MEDICAMENTO. LA SOLUCION DE PH ALTO ES PREFERIBLEMENTE UNA SOLUCION DE 0.5 M DE HIDROXIDO DE SODIO Y/O HIDROXIDO DE POTASIO Y LA SOLUCION DE PH BAJO ES PREFERIBLEMENTE UNA SOLUCION DE 0.5 M DE ACIDO HIDROCLORICO. EL PROCESO COMPRENDE LOS PASOS DE (A) DISOLVER EL MEDICAMENTO EN UNA SOLUCION DE PH ALTO O BAJO, (B) AÑADIR LA SOLUCION RESULTANTE A UNA EMULSION PREFORMADA, (C) AÑADIR A LA EMULSION UNA CANTIDAD DE UN ACIDO, BASE O TAMPON APROPIADO PARA NEUTRALIZAR AL MENOS SUSTANCIALMENTE EL PRODUCTO DEL PASO (B), Y (D) DONDE SE AÑADE UN ACIDO O UNA BASE EN EL PASO (C), AÑADIR OPCIONALMENTE SUFICIENTE TAMPONADOR PARA AJUSTAR EL PH DEL PRODUCTO DEL PASO (C) A UN VALOR DESEADO.
