Abstract

A separator at the downstream end of a duct 2, through which tobacco is conveyed in a stream of hot, moist air, comprises a perforated or mesh screen 14 clamped between two sections 15, 16 of a housing and separating the inlet from air outlet 13. Outlet 10 discharges the tobacco to an airlock. The perforate part of screen 14 extends right up to the housing wall, without any obstructions on the upstream side.
