- the invention further relates to a motor vehicle with a roof and a roof rail attached to the roof and a method for mounting a roof rail on a roof of a motor vehicle.
- WO 2013/107683 A1 The publication WO 2013/107683 A1, for example, is known from the prior art.
- This describes a roof rail for a motor vehicle, with at least one gallery bar and with at least one support element attached to the gallery bar to bridge a distance formed between the gallery bar and the roof of the motor vehicle and to fix the roof rails to the roof of the motor vehicle, and with at least one cover for the support element, the gallery rod, support element and cover being designed as separate components.
- at least one end area of the gallery rod is designed as a curved section, the front end of which forms a roof attachment end, that the support element is designed as an extruded part and that the support element and cover are located at least partially in the area of the curved section.
- the object of the invention is to propose a roof rail for a motor vehicle which has advantages over known roof rails, in particular can be fixed particularly reliably and permanently to the roof of the motor vehicle and is designed to be particularly pleasing to the eye.
- this is achieved with a roof rail for a motor vehicle with the features of claim 1 . It is provided that the fastening element bears against the cover on its side facing away from the gallery bar, in particular when viewed in longitudinal section.
- the roof rails are preferably part of the motor vehicle, but can of course also be present separately from it.
- the roof rails are used, for example, to attach a roof rack to the motor vehicle.
- the roof rack is supported on the roof of the motor vehicle via the roof rails.
- the roof rails can also be arranged on the motor vehicle for purely visual reasons.
- the roof railing has at least the at least one gallery bar and the at least one fastening device.
- the gallery bar is a component of the roof rails which, after the roof rails have been mounted on the motor vehicle, preferably extends in the longitudinal direction of the motor vehicle or at least approximately in the longitudinal direction, i.e. is arranged parallel or approximately parallel to a longitudinal axis of the motor vehicle.
- the gallery bar extends over a significant part of an extension of the roof in the direction of the longitudinal axis, preferably over at least 70%, at least 80% or at least 90%.
- other alignments and extensions of the gallery bar can also be realized in principle.
- the gallery bar is preferably supported on the roof by a protective film, in particular made of plastic, in particular made of an elastomer and/or a foam material, which reliably prevents damage to the roof by the roof rails or, conversely, damage to the roof rails by the roof and/or a creates a waterproof connection between the roof rails and the roof of the motor vehicle, so that the ingress of moisture from an external environment is prevented by the motor vehicle via the roof rails or via an attachment of the roof rails to the roof.
- the protective film can be regarded as part of the roof within the scope of this description. So if the We are talking about the roof rails being supported on the roof, so this can be done directly without a protective film or preferably via the protective film. In the first case, the roof rails lie directly on the roof, in the latter case on the protective film arranged on the roof.
