Definitions

  • the present disclosure relates to a radial compression tool for making tube connections and in particular to a compression ring and compression tongs for this purpose and methods of using the same.
  • Conventional radial pressing tools in particular the radial pressing tools referred to as pressing tongs, pressing rings and pressing slings are designed to convert a workpiece and in particular an assembly of a pipe end piece and a connection piece, e.g. a fitting, from an original oversize shape into to reshape a given final shape.
  • the change in shape associated with the deformation can include a radial and/or axial deformation of the assembly or individual parts thereof. Alternately or cumulatively, the change in shape may also include a relocation of parts of the assembly relative to each other. Further details in this regard are disclosed in publications DE 10144 100 CI, DE 102008010083 A1, to which reference is made here for the purpose of supplementing the disclosure with the note that the publications cited may give identical terms a meaning that differs from the present one.
  • Radial pressing tools often act on more than 180° of the circumference of the workpiece and must therefore be set up to be able to form the passage gap required for attaching and removing the radial pressing tool on or from the workpiece. In some cases, this is achieved structurally by a multi-part, coherent design of the radial pressing tool.
  • the mobility of the individual members relative to one another is dimensioned in such a way that the passage gap required for the stated purposes is present in at least one setting.
  • the radial press tools are two-part press rings with only one joint and two links connected therein.
