Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a method and a system for compensating for the burn-off of an electrode in an electric arc furnace.
  • Electrodes through which electricity flows are used in electric arc furnaces (Electric Are Furnace, EAF) in order to heat, in particular melt down, molten material such as scrap steel.
  • EAF Electric Are Furnace
  • the material to be melted is placed in a vessel where the usually vertically aligned electrodes can then be introduced into the material to be melted, at least with their lower electrode end.
  • the electrodes When melting down, the electrodes are subject to wear, known as burn-off. Due to the arcs generated between the electrodes and the melting material, material is removed in the area of the lower electrode ends, so that the electrodes are effectively shortened during operation.
  • the electrodes are usually constructed in a segmented manner, so that if necessary, i. H. in the case of significant shortening, additional electrode segments can be added to the upper electrode ends, for example screwed to them.
  • the suspension of the electrodes e.g. B. is adapted via a holding device in such a way that the electrodes can continue to be inserted at least partially into the melting material.
  • a clamping ring device which has a first upper clamping ring and a second includes lower clamping ring. So that the sensitiveChinanab sections of the electrode can be recognized, at least the upper clamping ring is provided with a sensor device by means of which markings on the electrode can be recognized.
  • a sliding device is shown in order to enable a controlled displacement of the electrode. The problem is that the connecting portions of the electrode should be avoided as they are fragile and should not be clamped there.
  • a detection device which is connected to a first movement device, detects these connection sections.
  • EP 3196575 A1 shows a device for varying the clamping position of an electrode.
  • a positioning device which is arranged on a fixed base and has a lifting device is used for this purpose.
  • the positioning device can determine the position and weight of the electrode.
  • the positioning device can also temporarily support the electrode in relation to the height position.
  • WO 01/88472 A1 shows a method for measuring a consumable electrode.
  • a method for compensating for the erosion of an electrode in an electric arc furnace has the following steps: (i) detecting at least part of the electrode held by a holding device at a first holding position, in particular vertically, using a sensor device; (ii) Determining a first distance on the basis of the data generated during acquisition, the first distance between an upper electrode end and the first holding position being determined on the basis of at least the distance and a predetermined connection position at which two segments of the electrode are connected to one another are connected, as well as a predetermined connection area, a second stop position is determined; (iii) verify that the electrode is supported on a support device; and (iv) repositioning the holding device relative to the electrode from the first holding position to the determined second holding position.
  • a detection of a part of an electrode in the sense of the invention is preferably a (sensory) recording, scanning or scanning and / or the like of the electrode part.
  • properties of the electrode and possibly also of the holding device holding the electrode in particular its shape and / or contour, can be detected and possibly mapped, for example, by (sensor) data generated during detection.
  • Repositioning within the meaning of the invention is preferably a change in the orientation and / or position of the holding device, in particular relative to an electrode.
  • Repositioning can, for example, correspond to moving, in particular a method, of the holding device relative to an electrode. This can assume that the electrode is not held by the holding device when it is repositioned.
  • One aspect of the invention is based on the approach that a holding device for holding an electrode is repositioned automatically, possibly cyclically, relative to the electrode, ie on an automation of the repositioning.
  • the repositioning can, for. B. before or after a Feststel development of a substantial shortening of the total length of the electrode be provided or take place.
  • at least part of the electrode held by the holding device at a first holding position is sensed by sensors in order to determine a second holding position at which the holding device can then (automatically) be positioned.
  • a part of the electrode can be scanned or scanned with the aid of a sensor device in order to find possible new holding positions.
  • a second stop position can then optionally be selected from these.
  • An upper end of the electrode is in this case preferably a second end of the electrode, in particular of cylindrical design, which is opposite a lower, first end of the electrode at which the erosion occurs.
  • the first holding position can be defined, for example, by an assigned marking on the holding device or an element of the holding device that can be detected by the sensor device.
  • a second holding position is determined on the basis of the first distance and a predetermined connection position at which two segments of the electrode are connected to one another. Since holding the electrode on or at least in the immediate vicinity of such a connection position could damage the electrode segments or the segment connection, operational reliability can be increased or at least ensured by taking into account the predetermined connection position.
  • the connection area corresponding to the predefined connection position a remaining portion in which the electrode can be held can be determined. For example, it can be determined that the holding device has to be axially displaced by a minimum length, ie in the direction of a longitudinal axis of the electrode, relative to the electrode in order to avoid the electrode being held on a segment connection located directly above the holding device.
  • connection area can, for example, be calculated on the basis of the electrode end and the segments used, and can be detected by the sensor device and / or by a special sensor device.
  • the sensory detection By means of the sensory detection, it can be checked, for example, whether the electrode is still long enough to be held in a position other than the current first holding position. Alternatively or additionally, it can be ensured by the sensory detection that the second holding position lies in a section of the electrode which is suitable for holding at all, e.g. B. is not in the area of a junction of two electrode segments. Because the second stop position is preferably determined on the basis of data generated during acquisition, in particular automatically, operating errors that can occur during manual repositioning can at least largely be excluded.
  • the electrode can, for example, be supported on a preferably table-like support device and the holding device can then be moved to the second holding position, especially after loosening a clamping or gripping unit, such as a clamping jaw, of the holding device relative to the supported electrode.
  • a clamping or gripping unit such as a clamping jaw
  • the repositioning of the holding device preferably includes not only a loosening or at least partial opening of the clamping or gripping unit, but also a final closing or tightening of the clamping or gripping unit.
  • the electrode can then be held in the second holding position by the final closing or tightening.
  • a first, in particular vertical, distance between an upper end of the electrode and a marking attached to the electrode is determined on the basis of the data generated during the acquisition and is used as the basis for determining the second holding position.
  • it can be assessed, for example, whether there is still enough space to hold the electrode between the marking and the upper end of the electrode. In other words, it can be assessed whether the electrode still has a sufficient remaining length at all, so that it can be held at a second holding position.
  • the marking is preferably designed in such a way that it can be detected, in particular optically, by the sensor device.
  • the marking can be designed as a paint, one or more notches or the like, for example. It is also conceivable that the marking is formed by a component, for example a clamp, which is attached to the electrode in order to determine the second holding position. As a result, a user can influence the determination of the second stop position.
  • the marking can also be gebil det from the holding device, which holds the electrode in the first holding position. Since the position of the holding device relative to the electrode initially corresponds to the first holding position, in this preferred embodiment the first, in particular vertical, distance between the upper end of the electrode and the first holding position is determined on the basis of the data generated during the acquisition and the determination of the based on the second stop position. So z. B. reliably a second holding position can be selected, which is between the first (against ticartigen) holding position and the upper end of the electrode.
  • the data generated during acquisition contain a profile of a horizontal distance between the electrode and / or the holding device on the one hand and the sensor device on the other hand, which can also be referred to as a distance profile.
  • the second stop position is preferably determined on the basis of this stand profile.
  • the first, in particular vertical, distance between the upper electrode end and the first holding position can be derived from the stand profile, which is then used as the basis for determining the second holding position. Using the distance profile the spatial position of the first holding position relative to the upper end of the electrode can be determined particularly easily.
  • the spacing profile in this case preferably forms the axial, ie parallel to a longitudinal axis of the electrode, surface profile of the electrode from the upper end of the electrode in the direction of the first holding position.
  • the spacing profile can at least partially map a silhouette or contour of the electrode and preferably also at least part of the holding device. If the horizontal distance is detected, for example, beyond the upper end of the electrode, the distance profile at the upper end of the electrode shows, for example, an abrupt and significant increase in the measured horizontal distance from the sensor device. On the other hand, a decrease in the measured horizontal distance occurs e.g. B. in the area of the first holding position, where the electrode is held by the holding device.
  • a pressure signal or an optical sensor device is used to verify that the electrode is on a support device, in particular a table-like support device is supported before the holding device is repositioned from the first holding position to the second holding position. This can in particular ensure that an active repositioning of the holding device is possible without risk be the sensor device.
  • the holding device in particular a lifting unit of the holding device, can have a pressure sensor system for detecting a pressure, in particular a hydraulic pressure, which is set up to output the pressure signal.
  • a hydraulic pressure is to be understood here as a pressure in a hydraulic medium of a hydraulic system which is set up for positioning the holding device, in particular for raising and lowering the clamping or gripping unit of the holding device.
  • the electrode When the electrode is supported on the support device, the weight to be borne by the hydraulics drops, as a result of which the hydraulic pressure drops.
  • This pressure drop can be detected by the pressure sensor system and a corresponding pressure signal can be output accordingly.
  • the electrode can be positioned above the support device with the aid of the holding device and then lowered until the lower end of the electrode makes contact with the support device and the pressure sensor system thus generates a pressure signal.
  • the electrode can be positioned above the support device with the aid of the holding device and the support device can then be raised until the lower end of the electrode contacts the support device and the pressure sensor system thus generates a pressure signal.
  • a remaining length of the electrode is determined and output.
  • a remaining length can be understood to mean the remaining total length of the electrode. This makes it possible, for example, to determine when it is necessary to attach a further electrode segment in order to ensure the continuous operation of the arc furnace. In particular, can in this way it is possible to reliably estimate how often the holding device can still be repositioned relative to the electrode before another electrode segment has to be attached.
  • the remaining length is determined on the basis of a second, in particular vertical, distance between the first holding position and the Abstweilvor device.
  • both the holding device and the supporting device can have a position encoder with which a vertical distance of the holding device, in particular the gripping unit, or the supporting device to a reference position, for example a floor, can be determined.
  • the second distance between the first holding position and the Abstauervor direction then results from the difference between these vertical distances from a reference position.
  • the first distance between the upper end of the electrode and the first holding position can be added to this second distance, resulting in the remaining remaining length of the electrode.
  • the remaining length of the electrode can thus be determined particularly precisely.
  • the determined remaining length is checked after each melting cycle in the electric arc furnace and the second holding position is determined as a function of a result of the test. In particular, it can be checked whether the determined remaining length reaches or falls below a predetermined minimum length threshold value.
  • z Before the second stop position is determined, z. For example, it can be decided whether, for example, it is necessary to place another electrode segment on the upper end of the electrode. If necessary, the resulting new electrode length can be taken into account when determining the second stop position.
  • the electrode is moved vertically, ie in a direction parallel to its longitudinal axis, to grasp at least part of the electrode with the aid of the holding device. In particular, the electrode can be moved relative to the sensor device with the aid of the holding device. This allows the sensor device to be installed in a stationary manner and thus to save a separate lifting device for the sensor device.
  • the movement of the electrode enables a particularly precise detection of the horizontal distance between the electrode and the sensor device.
  • the distance profile can therefore be generated.
  • the sensor device for detecting at least part of the electrode with the aid of the support device is vertically, i. H. Move in one direction parallel to the longitudinal axis of the electrode.
  • the support device can have a lifting device.
  • the second holding position is determined on the basis of an averaging of the data generated in each case.
  • the second stop position can be determined on the basis of an averaged distance profile.
  • the sensor device is designed, for example, as a laser scanner or has a pivoting means for pivoting a laser beam
  • at least a part of the electrode can be detected 2 to 16 times, preferably 4 to 12 times, in particular essentially 8 times. This enables the influence of noise or isolated artifacts in the data generated during acquisition to be reduced.
  • the second holding position can thereby be determined particularly reliably and precisely.
  • a measure for the reliability of the data generated during detection is determined. For example, on the basis of an intensity of a sensor signal, for example a laser beam, detected with the aid of an optical sensor device, it can be estimated how high an aerosol concentration, for example the dust and / or water content, is in the air. If the measure for the reliability reaches or falls below a predetermined reliability threshold value, the detection process can be interrupted and / or a corresponding warning signal can be output.

  • extension or length of a connection area around the connection position can be subtracted from the determined first distance to a “cleaned” remaining section in which the Electrode is possible to obtain.
  • the electrode can then be supported with the aid of a support device, i. H. made to be.
  • a pressure signal can be recorded, which is generated, for example, by a pressure sensor system built into the support device or in a hydraulic system for lifting and lowering the support device. From the relative positioning of the holding device and the supporting device present at the time the pressure signal was detected, which can be detected, for example, using position encoders of the holding device or the supporting device, as well as the determined first distance between the upper electrode end and the first holding position or the Holding device can then be deduced from a remaining total length of the electrode, which can be given to a user, for example.
  • the holding device can be repositioned relative to the electrode, specifically in such a way that the holding device now holds the electrode at the determined second holding position.
  • a gripping unit of the holding device holding the electrode for example a clamping jaw, is preferably loosened first.
  • the holding device and the supporting device and thus also the supported electrode can then be moved relative to one another, for example by the holding device moving along the electrode, ie pa- parallel to the longitudinal axis of the electrode, moved or by lifting the support device.
  • the electrode can then be held again, for example gripped, with the aid of the gripping unit.
