Definitions

  • the invention is based on a connector module for a modular industrial connector according to the preamble of independent claim 1.
  • Such connector modules are required as part of a modular connector system in order to be able to flexibly adapt a connector, in particular a heavy industrial connector, to certain requirements regarding signal and energy transmission, e.g. between two electrical devices.
  • connector modules are inserted into corresponding holding frames, which are sometimes also referred to as articulated frames, module frames or modular frames.
  • the holding frames are thus used to accommodate several similar and/or different connector modules and to attach them securely to a surface and/or a device wall and/or in a connector housing or similar.
  • the connector modules usually each have a cuboid-shaped insulating body or a cuboid-shaped housing.
  • These insulating bodies or housings can serve as contact carriers, for example, and can accommodate and fix contacts of various types.
  • the function of a connector formed in this way is therefore very flexible.
  • pneumatic modules, optical modules, modules for transmitting electrical energy and/or electrical analog and/or digital signals can be accommodated in the respective insulating body or housing and thus be used in the modular connector system.
  • Connector modules are increasingly also taking on measurement and data technology tasks.
  • holding frames are used which are made up of two frame halves which are connected to one another in an articulated manner.
  • the connector modules are provided with approximately rectangular holding means, also known as fixing lugs, which protrude from the narrow sides.
  • the side parts of the frame halves have recesses designed as openings which are closed on all sides, into which the holding means are inserted when the connector modules are inserted into the holding frame.
  • the holding frame is folded open, i.e. opened, whereby the frame halves are only folded open around the joints to such an extent that the connector modules can be inserted.
  • the frame halves are then clipped together, i.e. the The holding frame is closed, whereby the holding means enter the recesses and a secure, positive hold of the connector modules in the holding frame is achieved.
  • said connector modular systems with such connector modules using such a holding frame also known as a holding frame, module frame, articulated frame or module frame
  • a holding frame also known as a holding frame, module frame, articulated frame or module frame
  • a holding frame in the form of an articulated frame for holding connector modules and for installation in connector housings or for screwing onto wall surfaces is known.
  • the connector modules are inserted into the holding frame.
  • Holding means are provided on the connector modules which interact with windows provided on opposite side parts of the holding frame, the windows consisting of recesses which are designed as openings in the side parts of the holding frame which are closed on all sides.
  • the publication EN 10 2015 114 703 A1 shows such a holding frame.
  • the holding frame disclosed therein has at least one fixing means by means of which the frame halves can be fixed to one another in two positions, an open position and a closed position, which considerably simplifies handling.
  • German Patent and Trademark Office has searched the following prior art in the priority application for this application: EN 102017 123 331 B3 , EN 10 2016 107 412 A1 , EN 10 2016 116 926 A1 and DE 20 2010 009 199 U1 .
  • the WO 2018/142885 A1 shows a connector that is made up of various components that partially lock together. The aim of this connector is to create a good shield connection for the connected conductors.
  • the US 2004/248475 A1 shows a single-pin connector that is particularly used in vehicle airbags.
  • the object of the invention is to propose a connector module which can be manufactured cost-effectively.
  • the cost-effective production of the connector module according to the invention is achieved in particular by using the same components for different connector modules.
  • the connector module according to the invention is intended for use in a modular industrial connector.
  • several connector modules are usually lined up in a holding frame mentioned above and the holding frame is then screwed into a connector housing.
  • the connector module has a base body, a holding plate and at least one contact element.
  • the connector module can also comprise several contact elements. When one contact element is mentioned below, the features mentioned can equally be transferred to several contact elements.
  • the contact element has a contact area and a cable connection area.
  • the contact area is used to electrically contact a contact element of a mating connector.
  • the well-known pin/socket principle is usually used here.
  • the cable connection area of the contact element is designed to electrically contact a conductor of a cable. Crimping technology is used here, for example. In this case, the cable connection has an opening into which a stripped end section of the conductor and then crimped tightly using a crimping tool.
  • the base body of the connector module has at least one approximately cylindrical opening, depending on the number of contact elements present, for receiving the contact area of the contact element.
  • the contact element is held in the connector module via the holding plate.
  • the holding plate has at least one approximately cylindrical opening, depending on the number of contact elements present, to accommodate the cable connection area of the contact element.
  • the base body and the holding plate can be reversibly locked together.
  • the individual parts can be reused and, for example, only new contact elements can be used.
  • Such a connector module has particular ecological advantages.
  • the holding plate preferably has locking tabs and the base body has corresponding locking webs. Such a locking can be easily created and released again without tools.
  • the base body is always one and the same component, while different holding plates are used for different contact elements.
  • one holding plate has a cylindrical opening with a diameter of about 18 mm, while another holding plate has a correspondingly larger diameter of about 22 mm.
  • the contact areas of the contact elements used are each designed identically as pin or socket contacts, while the cable connection areas of the contact elements can vary.
  • the base body must be identical for different contact elements in the connection area.
  • the holding plate has fixing lugs for fixing the connector module in a holding frame for a modular industrial connector.
  • the connector module according to the invention is intended for the transmission of high currents.
  • the contact elements must therefore provide a high current-carrying capacity.
  • the contact elements are designed to be correspondingly solid, so that the connector module takes up two slots in the holding frame.
  • the connector module essentially has a cuboid shape.
  • the holding plate has two of the above-mentioned fixing lugs on two opposite sides for fixing the connector module in a holding frame.
  • the connector module 1, 1' proposed here is intended for a modular industrial connector.
  • the connector module 1, 1' consists of a base body 2, 2', a holding plate 3, 3' and at least one contact element 4, 4', which for illustrative reasons is Figure 1 is not shown.
  • the base body 2 is designed for a connector module with a socket contact element.
  • the base body 2, 2' can optionally be equipped with the holding plate 3, for contact elements 4, 4' with a cable connection area with a cross section of 25 mm 2 up to 70 mm 2 , or with a holding plate 3', for contact elements 4, 4' with a cable connection area with a cross section of 95 mm 2 up to 120 mm 2 .
  • the permutation options of the base body 2, 2' and the holding plate 3, 3' are determined by the Double arrows 6, 6', 6", 6′′′ symbolize.
  • the contact element 4, 4' is mounted in the base body 2, 2' in a cylindrical opening 11 provided for this purpose.
  • Locking tabs 7 are formed on the holding plate 3, 3'.
  • the Base body 2, 2' has locking webs 8 corresponding to the locking tabs 7. When locking base body 2, 2' and The locking webs 8 engage in the corresponding locking tabs 7 on the holding plate 3, 3'. The locking thus created can easily be reversed by levering the locking arms 8 out of the locking tabs 7.
  • the base body 2, 2' and the holding plate 3, 3' are each made of plastic and are manufactured in an injection molding process.
  • the connector module 1, 1' essentially has a cuboid basic shape with an almost rectangular cross-section.
  • Holding plate 3, 3' has two Fixing lugs 5 for fixing the connector module 1, 1' in a holding frame (not shown).
  • FIG 2 a sectional view of a connector module 1, 1' according to the invention with a pin contact 4' and a corresponding connector module 1' with a socket contact 4 is shown.
