Definitions

  • the invention is based on a modular holding frame for connectors according to the preamble of independent claim 1.
  • connector modules are required as part of a modular connector system in order to be able to flexibly adapt a connector, in particular a heavy rectangular connector, to specific requirements regarding signal and energy transmission, for example between two electrical devices.
  • connector modules are usually inserted into corresponding connector modular frames, which are sometimes also referred to as holding frames, articulated frames, module frames or modular frames.
  • the connector modular frames thus serve to accommodate several connector modules that are similar and/or different to one another and to secure them securely to a surface and/or in a connector housing or similar.
  • the connector modules usually each have a substantially cuboid insulating body. These insulating bodies can, for example, serve as contact carriers and accommodate and fix contacts of various types. The function of a connector formed in this way is therefore very flexible. For example, pneumatic modules, optical modules, modules for transmitting electrical energy and/or electrical analog and/or digital signals can be accommodated in the respective insulating body and can thus be used in the modular plug connector system. Connector modules are increasingly taking on measurement and data technology tasks.
  • plug connector modular systems with such plug connector modules using such a plug connector modular frame also known as a holding frame, module frame, articulated frame or module frame
  • a plug connector modular frame also known as a holding frame, module frame, articulated frame or module frame
  • EP 0 860 906 B1 is a connector modular frame in the form of an articulated frame for holding connector modules and for installation in connector housings or for screwing to wall surfaces.
  • the connector modules are inserted into the connector modular frame.
  • Mounting means are provided on the connector modules and interact with windows provided on opposite side parts of the connector modular frame, the windows consisting of recesses which are designed as openings in the side parts of the connector modular frame that are closed on all sides.
  • the connector modular frame is designed as an articulated frame consisting of two frame halves that are articulated to one another, with the separation of the connector modular frame being provided transversely to the side parts of the frame. Joints are arranged in the fastening ends of the connector modular frame in such a way that the side parts move when the connector is screwed on Align the connector modular frame on a mounting surface perpendicular to the mounting surface, whereby the connector modules enter into a positive connection with the connector modular frame via the holding means.
  • such connector modular frames are usually manufactured in a die-casting process, in particular in a zinc die-casting process.
  • the publication DE 10 2015 114 703 A1 discloses a further development of such a connector modular frame designed as an articulated frame.
  • the connector modular frame disclosed therein has at least one fixing means, via which the frame halves can be fixed to one another in two positions, an open position and a closed position, which considerably simplifies handling.
  • the publication DE 20 2013 103 611 U1 shows two frame halves that can be screwed together in an extremely stable manner, can be produced inexpensively using stamping bending technology and can be screwed together and are suitable for holding pneumatic modules, among other things.
  • the connector modular frame assembled in this way has very low creep properties, even under high long-term mechanical loads. The disadvantage, however, is that the effort involved in adding or replacing a connector module is extremely high.
  • the publication EP 1 801 927 B1 discloses a one-piece connector modular frame made of plastic material.
  • the connector modular frame is designed as a circumferential collar and has several wall segments separated by slots on its plug-in side. Two opposing wall segments each form an insertion area for a connector module, with the wall segments having window-like openings which serve to accommodate projections formed on the narrow sides of the modules.
  • a guide groove is provided in each of the wall segments. The guide groove is formed above the openings by means of a window bar that is offset outwards and has an insertion bevel on the inside.
  • the connector modules have locking arms which are formed on the narrow sides in the direction of the cable connections and lock below the side collar wall, so that two independent locking means fix the connector modules in the connector modular frame.
  • the publication DE 10 2013 113 976 B4 discloses a connector modular frame for a heavy-duty connector for accommodating similar and/or different connector modules.
  • the connector modular frame consists of a base frame with a rectangular cross section and two opposing side parts.
  • a cheek part consisting of a flexible material, in particular spring-elastic sheet metal, is attached to each side part.
  • these cheek parts are first bent outwards away from the side part.
  • the cheek parts can have tabs with locking windows, which are suitable for locking the connector modules at their locking lugs individually in the connector modular frame.
  • the connector modules can thus be inserted individually and with little effort from the cable connection direction and in the plug-in direction into the connector modular frame and removed again in the opposite direction.
  • the inserted connector module is from the base frame of the Connector modular frame held firmly and stably in the frame level. In their insertion direction, perpendicular to the frame plane, they can lock with their locking lugs between two opposing tabs.
  • This design basically has the advantage that the connector modules can be inserted and removed individually without affecting the attachment of the other modules.
  • the design also allows the connector modular frame to be made of metal and thus enables the said protective grounding.
  • the modules in such known connector modular frames basically have a certain "play", that is, they are held in the connector modular frame with a certain mechanical tolerance. From a technical point of view, this is also considered necessary, at least to a certain extent, for most applications, since it serves to compensate for corresponding tolerances compared to the mating connector during the mating process. However, if this tolerance becomes too large, as can sometimes be observed in the latter state of the art, this can result in the fixation of the connector modules via the cheek parts mentioned above not meeting the requirements of some industrial areas. Excessive play within the base body of the connector modular frame can often result in excessive insertion and removal forces when connecting or disconnecting the connector and mating connector.
  • the contact elements can continue to tilt, for example during the plugging process, which also results in greater abrasion and, after a while, there may even be a risk of an overvoltage arc.
  • the play in question can also be a disadvantage when using certain data technology connector modules, as this tolerance may make an electronic bus connection considerably more difficult.
  • the WO 2017/036447 A1 shows a holding frame in which plug connector modules can be inserted, the holding frame consisting of two interconnectable halves which can be aligned and fixed to one another in at least two positions via a locking element for inserting or removing the plug connector modules.
  • the WO 2016/124173 A1 shows a holding frame for connector modules consisting of four interconnected parts. Two opposite side parts are each inserted into the S-shaped grooves provided in two opposite head parts.
  • the holding frame All of the holding frames mentioned above are designed to be equipped multiple times and sometimes with different connector modules. Therefore, the holding frame must have a certain mechanical stability and its locking means for the connector modules must have a certain durability.
  • the object of the invention is to propose a holding frame for plug connectors, more precisely plug connector modules, or in other words a plug connector modular frame, which can be used flexibly and is easy to handle. Furthermore, it should be stable and inexpensive to produce.
  • the holding frame according to the invention is intended for use in heavy connectors, which are also known under the term “industrial connectors”. Similar and/or different connector modules can be reversibly inserted into the holding frame. This means that a connector can be put together variably depending on the area of application and customer requirements.
  • the holding frame essentially consists of two, preferably four, holding frame modules. This means that the holding frame can be assembled from several elements, i.e. holding frame modules.
  • the holding frame modules can be locked together. This offers the advantage that the entire holding frame can be adapted to different numbers of connector modules without having to change the product range. This ensures the flexibility and low cost of the holding frame.
  • the holding frame module consists of at least one punched and/or lasered wall element.
  • the punching or laser process in the production of the wall elements results in precise cutting edges and clean contours. These offer the advantage that they can be better combined and/or connected with one another, as the tolerances are lower than with other manufacturing processes.
  • the The manufacturing process can be optimally automated using both processes and is therefore faster, more efficient and more resource-saving.
  • the holding frame has two PE walls with a connection for protective grounding and at least one means for fastening. At least one PE wall is used to connect the protective ground and is required.
  • the PE wall is ideally arranged at right angles to the at least one holding frame module. Starting from a square, preferably rectangular or square, holding frame, the PE wall forms two opposite, parallel sides. The two remaining parallel sides are each formed by at least one holding frame module.
  • the holding frame also has at least one fastening means, which is used to mount the holding frame in a connector housing.
  • the PE wall consists of a metal. This means that when connecting a protective ground to the PE wall, this can be achieved without any additional aids. It is also conceivable for the PE wall to be made of plastic, but this is only suitable as a connection for protective grounding in conjunction with metal elements fixed to it.
  • the PE wall can advantageously be produced using the punching-bending process or casting process. This simplifies the production process, which consequently saves costs.
  • connection for protective grounding is a PE contact. This means that a protective conductor can be easily connected for a user and the required protective grounding is reliably guaranteed.
  • an advantageous embodiment provides that the means for fastening are screws, rivets, bolts, pins or the like, with the means for fastening serving to mount the holding frame in a connector housing.
  • the term “similar” refers to all fasteners not mentioned here, which fulfill functions analogous to the fasteners mentioned and can fix the holding frame accordingly.
  • FIGS. 1 and 2 each show a perspective view of a holding frame according to the invention with two holding frame modules 2 and three recorded connector modules 1.
  • connector modules 1 in the five figures is only an example. For the sake of clarity, only one component of the holding frame is provided with a reference number, even if several components of the same type are installed.
  • the holding frame consists of two parallel, opposing holding frame modules 2.
  • the holding frame modules are punched or laser-cut metal elements, each of which has recesses for locking lugs of plug connector modules 1.
  • the recess is each shaped according to the contour of the locking lug of the connector module 1.
  • the holding frame module 2 has at least one tab 2.1, here two tabs 2.1, on each of two sides.
  • the tabs 2.1 are arranged so that they can interact and lock with the respective PE wall 7.
  • the PE wall 7 has corresponding recesses for locking, as in the Figure 2 you can see.
  • the PE wall 7 in all figures consists of a wall, which is preferably made of metal or plastic with a metallic molding to ensure conductivity.
  • the PE wall has a connection for protective grounding 8 and at least one, here two, means of fastening 9.
  • connection to protective grounding 8 is a PE contact, as is well known and prescribed in the prior art.
  • the means for fastening 9 in all figures is a screw, more precisely two screws for each PE wall 7. Using the screws, the holding frame can be installed in a connector housing without the user needing special tools.
