  1. Slicer for cutting a loaf of bread into slices comprising:
    - a loading compartment (3) for placing a loaf of bread to be sliced, the loading compartment (3) being connected to a receiving compartment (4),
    - a pusher (5) controlled by control means and enabling the loaf of bread to be moved between the loading compartment (3) and the reception compartment (4) in a direction of movement (6) of the bread,
    - a cutting blade (7) for cutting successive slices of the loaf of bread as it is moved from the loading compartment (3) to the receiving compartment (4) in said direction of movement (6) of the bread, this cutting blade (7) being movable in a cutting plane extending between the loading compartment (3) and the receiving compartment (4) and substantially perpendicular to said direction of movement (6) of the bread,
    - a slice support (9) extending in the receiving compartment (3), this support (9) being intended to exert a pressing force against the already cut part of the loaf of bread to hold the slices of bread against each other, the slice support (9) being movable and displaceable about a pivot axis (11) to hold the support (9) in contact with the cut part of the bread as this cut part advances into the receiving compartment (4),
    - the slice support (9) cooperating with a leaf spring having a leaf (10) which exerts a pushing force on the slice support (9) in order to hold this support (9) in abutment against the cut portion of bread,
    characterised in that an adjustment system is provided for modifying the position of one of the ends of the leaf (10) relative to the frame (2) of the slicer (1) in order to adjust said pushing force, this adjustment system comprising a rotary element (13) which can be driven about an axis (14) and movement transformation means for transforming a rotary movement of the rotary element (13) into a translational movement of said end (12) of the leaf (10) relative to the frame (2).
  2. A slicer as claimed in claim 1, wherein the rotary member (13) is accessible from outside the frame (2) to enable said rotary member (13) to be driven about said axis (14) to adjust said pushing force exerted by the slice support (9) on the cut portion of the loaf of bread .
  3. Slicer according to claim 1 or 2, wherein the rotary member (13) of the adjustment system comprises a screw (15) acting on said end (12) of the leaf (10) and cooperating with a nut (16) fixed with respect to the frame (2) or with respect to said end (12), so that when the screw (15) is rotated with respect to the nut (16), the rotary movement of the screw (15) is transformed into a translational movement of said end (12).
  4. A slicer as claimed in claim 1 or 2, wherein the rotary member (13) of the adjustment system comprises a pinion co-operating with a rack fixed relative to said end of the leaf, such that when the pinion is rotated about the axis, the rotary movement of the pinion is transformed into a translational movement of said end (12) of the leaf (10).
  5. Slicer according to any one of claims 1 to 4, wherein said leaf (10) is folded on itself to form a loop, this loop being in contact with the slice support (9) by exerting a pushing force against this slice support (9) to maintain it in contact with the portion of sliced bread.
  6. A slicer as claimed in claim 5, wherein regions of the leaf (10) adjacent opposite ends (12,19) extend substantially parallel to each other and are displaceable relative to each other to adjust said pushing force.
  7. A slicer according to any one of claims 1 to 6, wherein the rotary member (13) co-operates with an electric motor to drive the rotary member (13) about the axis (14).
