Definitions

  • the present invention relates to timepieces, and in particular to timepieces suitable for mobile use, such as wristwatches or pocket watches. More precisely, the invention relates to a mechanical or electromechanical timepiece with a mysterious drive.
  • mechanical or electromechanical timepiece is meant a timepiece, in particular a wristwatch, of which the elements indicating time information or other such as a set of hour and minute hands are driven by a clockwork movement to which energy is supplied either by a barrel spring (mechanical movement) or by a source of electrical energy (electromechanical movement).
  • Timepieces with mechanical or electromechanical movements are the subject of constant research, their designers redoubling their originality and creativity.
  • many developments relate to complications, to improvements in the mechanical movement of timepieces, or even to aesthetic innovations.
  • the document WO 2004/006026 describes a timepiece comprising a mechanical movement driving time display hands via drive belts. These time display hands rotate above a dial and are visible from through the glass of the timepiece. The dial is opaque and conceals the mechanical movement and the drive belts.
  • a timepiece of this type is also described in the document EP 1 884 841 A1 .
  • Certain timepieces do not have a dial or have a transparent dial in order to give the user a view of the interior volume of the watch case present under the hands. If such an arrangement were adopted for the timepiece described above, the user would be able to see the hand drive belts.
  • a mechanical or electromechanical timepiece of the mysterious drive type in which the owner can distinguish the interior volume of the watch case located behind the hands, without however being able to identify the mechanism for driving the hands.
  • a timepiece comprising a watch case with a transparent bottom so that the user's gaze can pass right through the timepiece. up to the back crystal of the watch.
  • the mysterious aspect of the drive mechanism is then further enhanced.
  • a mystery timepiece comprising a drive mechanism of a new type, simpler to implement and making the drive of the time display members or of a clock. another temporal or not totally imperceptible quantity.
  • the invention aims to provide a timepiece meeting one or more of these requirements.
  • the object of the present invention is to provide a mechanical or electromechanical timepiece comprising a mysterious drive movement of at least one display member of a temporal or other magnitude.
  • the present invention aims to provide a mysterious drive mechanism which is completely imperceptible by the owner of the timepiece, for example a wristwatch, and which is also a little simpler to implement. , so as to make it possible to offer a mystery timepiece at a contained price and therefore more easily accessible to buyers.
  • the present invention provides a mechanical or electromechanical timepiece comprising a movement driving a needle via a belt.
  • the belt is embedded in a preferably transparent fluid confined in the interior volume of a watch case.
  • the belt is also transparent and has an optical refractive index equal to or very close to that of the fluid.
  • the user can see through the interior volume of the watch case due to the transparency of the fluid, but, due to the equality of the optical refractive indices of the fluid and of the material in which the belt is made, cannot distinguish belt embedded in fluid.
  • a mysterious ripple effect is obtained for the timepiece, the belt not being able to be perceived by the user who observes the interior volume of the watch case.
  • the present invention proceeds from the general inventive idea which consists in making a drive belt indistinguishable, this belt being present in an interior volume of a watch case and extending at least partially into the useful opening of the watch case. display defined by the watch crystal.
  • the interior volume of the watch case is filled with a fluid in which is embedded a drive belt having an optical refractive index similar to that of the fluid.
  • the figure 1 is a front view of an exemplary embodiment of a timepiece 1 of the wristwatch type according to the invention.
  • the figure 2 is a partial sectional view of the wristwatch along line II-II of the figure 1 .
  • the timepiece 1 comprises a watch case 2 which delimits an internal volume 4.
  • the watch case 2 comprises, in a manner known per se, a back 6, a crystal 8 and a caseband 10.
  • the back 6 defines the bottom of the case. watch case 2.
  • the crystal 8 closes the top of the watch case 2 and is transparent to define a useful display opening 12.
  • the middle 10 connects the back 6 and the crystal 8 to each other.
  • Lugs 14 are provided on either side of the middle part 10 and allow in a manner known per se the attachment of a bracelet 16 to attach the timepiece 1 to the wrist of a user.
  • the invention can of course be applied to other types of timepieces, such as pocket watches.
  • Timepiece 1 also comprises an hour hand 18 and a minute hand 20 intended for displaying civil time.
  • the 18 hour and 20 minute hands are housed in the interior volume 4 of the watch case 2, between the crystal 8 and the back 6.
  • the 18 hour and 20 minute hands are here opaque and perceptible through the crystal. useful display opening 12.
  • the hour hands 18 and minute hands 20 are mounted to rotate with respect to the watch case 2, around the same axis substantially perpendicular to the crystal 8.
  • the timepiece 1 also includes a timepiece movement 22.
  • This timepiece movement 22 is housed in the interior volume 4 of the watch case 2.
  • the clock movement 22 is here masked by an opaque upper rim 24. of the caseband 10.
  • the clockwork movement 22 is hidden from the view of the owner, it is also possible to envisage making it visible through the useful display opening 12, in order to reinforce the mysterious effect obtained by the absence of a visible mechanical drive link between this clockwork movement 22 and the 18 hour and 20 minute hands.
  • the timepiece 1 here also comprises an electric power source 26 and an electronic power and control circuit 28 connected to the electric power source 26.
  • the electric power source 26 and the electronic circuit 28 d 'power supply and control are here also masked by the caseband 10.
  • the electronic power supply and control circuit 28 is arranged to power an electric motor (not shown) provided to drive the clockwork movement 22 using the energy supplied by the electric power source 26.
  • the timepiece 1 illustrated here is therefore of the electromechanical type. The invention applies of course in an identical manner to timepieces of the mechanical type.
  • the 18 hour and 20 minute hands are rotated by the clockwork 22 via drive belts respectively, namely a 30 hour belt and a 32 minute belt.
  • the 30 hour and 32 minute drive belts are, for example, toothed belts.
  • the drive belts for hours 30 and minutes 32 are for example made of silicone.
  • the 30 hour and 32 minute drive belts are of course shown visible on the figures 1 and 2 for the sake of a good understanding of the invention.
  • the hour 30 and minute 32 drive belts extend at least partially into the useful display opening 12.
  • the interior volume 4 of the watch case 2 is filled with a fluid 34 in which the hour 30 and minute 32 drive belts are embedded.
  • the fluid 34 fills the interior volume 4 of the watch case 2 so as to avoid the presence of pockets or visible gas bubbles.
  • the fluid 34 is typically a liquid or a transparent oil bath. Due to its transparency, the fluid 34 allows the user to see the interior volume 4 of the watch case 2, in particular under the hour hands 18 and minutes 20. The use of a transparent fluid 34 also allows to limit parasitic reflections on the various components present in the interior volume 4 of the watch case 2.
  • the optical refractive indices of the fluid 34 and the 30 hour drive belts and 32 minutes are substantially equal.
  • the ratio between the optical refractive index of the fluid 34 and that of the drive belts for hours 30 and minutes 32 is for example advantageously between 0.9 and 1.1, and preferably between 0.95 and 1 , 05.
  • the back 6 is also transparent, which allows the user observing the useful display opening 12 to see through the timepiece 1 to the back crystal 6.
  • the timepiece 1 can thus give the user the impression that the hour hands 18 and minutes 20 float in the interior volume 4 of the watch case 2 and are not rotated by any mechanism.
  • the timepiece 1 comprises an hour barrel 36, mounted to rotate relative to the watch case 2 and on which the hour hand 18 is fixed.
  • the timepiece 1 further comprises a minute barrel 38, mounted to rotate relative to the watch case 2 and on which the minute hand 20 is fixed.
  • the 38 minute barrel has a first end 38a housed in a recess 40a of the crystal 8, and a second end 38b housed in a recess 40b in the bottom 6.
  • the 38 minute barrel is thus mounted to rotate about a perpendicular axis. to the mirror 8 and perpendicular to the bottom 6.
  • the minutes barrel 38 can also be guided in rotation by a bridge 42 or by a transparent plate which it crosses. Bridge 42 can be transparent.
  • the 36 hour barrel is rotatably mounted around the 38 minute barrel, positioned coaxially around this 38 minute barrel.
  • the axial position of the 36 hour barrel is defined by the bridge 42 at its lower end, and by a washer 46 at its upper end.
  • the 36 hours barrel may include a shoulder to abut against the bridge 42.
  • the washer 46 can be force-fitted around the 38 minutes barrel.
  • the washer 46 may be transparent.
  • the minute barrel 38 has a fluted lower end, positioned under the bridge 42. This fluted end forms a minute toothing 48. This minute toothing 48 can also be provided by a Splined pinion driven on the 38 minutes barrel.
  • the toothed 32 minutes drive belt engages the 48 minutes toothing of the 38 minutes barrel. The 32 minutes drive belt can thus drive the 38 minutes barrel rotating without slipping.
  • the 36 hour barrel also has a fluted lower end which is located above bridge 42.
  • the fluted end of the 36 hour barrel forms a 50 hour toothing. This 50 hour toothing can also be provided by a splined pinion. driven on the 36 hour barrel.
  • the toothed 30 hour drive belt engages the 50 hour toothing.
  • the 30 hour drive belt can thus drive the 36 hour barrel in rotation without slipping.
  • the hour 36 and minute 38 guns can be made of transparent material, exhibiting an optical refractive index substantially equal to that of the fluid 34.
  • the figure 3 illustrates an example of the attachment of the hour 18 and minute 20 hands to the 36 hour and 38 minute barrels respectively.
  • the hour 18 and minute 20 hands are here force-fitted into respective radial bores of the hour 36 and minute 38 barrels.
  • the fluid with which the interior volume of the watch case and the drive belts are filled can also be translucent, that is to say be transparent while diffusing light.
  • the fluid as well as the drive belts can also have a tint, that is to say filter a part of the visible spectrum in order to bring out a colored appearance. Such coloring can for example make it possible to bring out more color of the hour and minute hands.
  • the fluid can also include opaque suspended particles.
  • the material used to make the 30 hour drive belt and 32 minute drive belt is loaded with a small percentage, typically between 1% and 10%. , fluorescent or phosphorescent pigments which, only under special illumination or in the dark, makes it possible to reveal the invisible mechanical connection in normal conditions between the hour hand and the minute hand and the hour and minute barrels who wear them.
