Definitions
- the present invention relates to a lamp which has two housings, one of which is used to accommodate an operating device for operating lighting means and the other forms a light head containing the lighting means, the light head being connected to the operating device in an adjustable manner with respect to the housing.
- the present invention relates to a luminaire intended for outdoor use.
- Luminaires with an adjustable component for influencing the direction of the light output are known in many ways. Depending on the adjustment option, different joint designs are used here, which enable the light head to be pivoted about at least one, sometimes even about several axes. In the case of a permanently positioned workplace lamp, the light output can then be flexibly adapted to the specific application, for example by appropriately aligning the light head.
- the possibility of adjusting the light head in relation to a permanently mounted part of the light is also advantageous in the case of outdoor lights, in order to enable the lighting to be configured flexibly.
- projectors which are used to specifically illuminate certain areas outside or in larger rooms and thus to highlight them optically.
- the mounting options for the lamp are limited, which is then compensated for by the possibility of adjusting the light head in relation to the rigidly mounted part of the lamp.
- the EP 0 556 709 A2 describes a lamp, in particular an outdoor lamp, which has a first housing with an operating device located therein for lighting means and a second housing with lighting means, the two housings interlocking and being connected via an articulated connection.
- this joint is formed by a bolt with a thread connected to the first housing, a nut placed on the thread being inserted by operating conical element with knobs is pressed against an area of the second housing with recesses so that the knobs engage in the recesses so that the connection between the two housings is fixed.
- seals are provided in areas of the joint openings so that the joint is sealed off from the outside.
- the two housings are spatially connected via the joint through openings, it being provided that connecting lines are led through from the first housing into the second housing.
- a lighting system in particular an outdoor lighting system, consisting of a light source, in particular an LED light source, which is arranged in a housing, and a joint which is fixed to the housing with screws.
- the joint has a pivot axis which is formed by a bolt which has a thread on one side, onto which a nut is attached.
- the joint consists of two joint parts, the joint being sealed from the outside by sealing rings. A passage is provided inside the joint, supply lines being laid from outside through the joint into the housing.
- an adjustable lamp arrangement consisting of a lamp holder which can be equipped with a lamp, a hinge arrangement and a foot flange.
- the joint arrangement is connected on one side to an end region of the lamp holder and on the other side to the base flange, the joint having a feedthrough through which supply lines for the lamp holder or the lamp can be guided.
- the joint arrangement consists essentially of two joint components which are connected by a pin forming the pivot axis.
- the pin is part of a first joint component, the second joint component having a corresponding opening and being pushed onto the pin.
- the second joint component is fixed by a spring washer attached to the end of the pin.
- the present invention is therefore based on the object of specifying a luminaire which enables the light head to be adjusted, but at the same time is reliably sealed against external influences.
- the solution according to the invention provides for the two housing components of the luminaire, i.e. a first housing in which an operating device for operating lighting means is arranged, and a second housing, which contains the lighting means, to be coupled to one another via a corresponding joint, which allows the allows both housing parts to each other.
- the joint is connected to the two housings in a sealed manner and at the same time forms a passage through which supply lines are laid from one of the two housings to the other housing.
- the supply lines serve to connect the operating device to the lighting means, but according to the invention are now positioned and routed in such a way that a reliable and permanent power supply of the lighting means is guaranteed by the operating device, but at the same time there is also a permanent sealing connection between the two housings.
- a lamp is proposed with a first housing in which an operating device for operating lighting means is arranged, a second housing in which lighting means are arranged, supply lines which extend from the operating device to the lighting means, and a joint which pivotally connects the two housings to one another, the joint being sealingly connected to the two housings and forming a passage through which supply lines are laid from the first housing to the second housing.
- the joint has a joint part which is firmly screwed to one of the two housings and is pivotably mounted with respect to the other housing.
- the pivotable mounting of the joint part with respect to the other housing is achieved in that the joint part has a tubular projection which defines a pivot axis of the joint and engages in an opening of the corresponding housing.
- a corresponding ring seal is then preferably provided on the circumference of this projection, through which the joint part is sealed off from the housing.
- prestressing means are present which press the joint part in the direction of the pivot axis onto a wall area of the housing having the opening.
- the joint part is therefore pressed permanently in the direction of the corresponding housing, so that the seal is effective regardless of the pivoting position of the light head.
- a tensioning element is provided according to the invention, which is attached to the housing, relative to which the joint part is pivotably mounted, and exerts pressure on the joint part from the side opposite the tubular projection.
- the assembly of the joint according to the invention can be facilitated if a so-called spacer is arranged between the joint part and the tensioning element.
- a spring element in particular a plate spring, can also be provided, which is arranged between the tensioning element and the joint element. Even with any different expansions due to temperature fluctuations, this ensures that pressure is permanently exerted on the joint part in the direction of the seal.
- the aforementioned clamping element is preferably designed in the form of a sleeve and is arranged in an opening of the housing which is accessible from the outside and with respect to which the joint part is pivotably mounted.
- the sleeve-shaped clamping element can be screwed to the housing.
- the joint has externally accessible means for locking the light head in a predetermined pivot position.
- These locking means can initially have a pin which reaches through the sleeve-shaped tensioning element and engages positively in the joint element. The locking of the joint in the desired position is then achieved with the aid of an additional toothed washer, which cooperates on the one hand with the pin and on the other hand with the housing.
- a screw can also be provided which extends through the pin up to the joint part and can be screwed to it. By tightening the screw, the toothed washer is clamped between the pin and the housing and locks the joint in the corresponding position.
- a particular advantage is that even when the screw is loosened to lock the pivot position, the tightness of the articulated connection is not adversely affected. Even if the screw and the pin are completely removed, the joint part is pressed against the housing by the pressing force predetermined with the aid of the clamping element, so that a permanent sealing connection is ensured even when the joint is not locked.
- a corresponding marking can be provided on the aforementioned pin, which, together with corresponding markings on the housing, forms a scale for displaying the pivoting position of the joint. This allows the angular position of the light head to be precisely adjusted to a desired value.
- a particular advantage of the solution according to the invention is also that when the lamp or light head is adjusted, it is self-locking in every position. In particular, there is also no risk of the head falling down.
- the lamp according to the invention is preferably an outdoor lamp.
- the inventive concept of the sealing Connection can also be used in luminaires that are used indoors and where, despite everything, a reliable seal against external influences is desired.
- a special joint for the adjustable mounting of a light head is described below with reference to a lamp intended for outdoor use, which is used, for example, for street lighting or as a so-called projector.
- the possibility of adjusting the light head means that the lighting that can ultimately be implemented can be adapted more flexibly to the current area of application.
- the special design of the sealing pivotable connection is not limited to lights for outdoor use, but can basically be used with all types of lights in which an adjustment of the light head with respect to a further housing part is desired and despite the adjustability a sufficient sealing against the environment is to be achieved.
- the lamp generally provided with the reference number 100 in the figures, therefore consists of two housings, a first housing 10 and a second housing 20, which can be pivoted to the joint 30 designed according to the invention via the first housing 10 is connected.
- the first housing 10 is used to accommodate electronic components for supplying light sources. This can therefore be so-called ballasts or converters which convert the supply voltage made externally available to the luminaire 100 into a suitable operating voltage for the lighting means.
- the - not shown - lamps themselves, however, are arranged in the second housing 20, which is about the axis I (see Fig. Figure 1 , 3 and 4 ) forms a swiveling light head.
- Supply lines which lead from the operating device to the lighting means, are guided through the joint 30, so that these lines do not have to be additionally protected by appropriate sealing measures.
- the design of the joint 30, which is to be described in more detail below, is decisive for the inventive sealing of the luminaire 100 overall against external influences.
- Both housings 10 and 20, apart from the areas provided for connection to the joint 30, are each sufficiently sealed for themselves, so that the desired protection class can then be achieved overall.
- FIG Figures 5 and 6 show the joint 30 in the disassembled state, while the sectional views of FIG Figures 7 and 8 show the arrangement of the various joint components in the assembled state.
- the hinge 30 is arranged in a lateral area of the first housing 10. This basically has a cuboid shape, but is designed with a recess in the connecting area which serves to accommodate the hinge 30 on the one hand and the side area of the light head 20 on the other. Such as, for example, the representations Figures 1 - 4 can be removed, so the end region of the light head 20 engages in the lateral recess of the first housing 10 at least in the basic position shown.
- a first essential component of the joint 30 according to the invention is a joint part 40 which, in the illustrated embodiment, is approximately cuboid.
- the outer shape is chosen such that in the Figures 1 - 4 The basic position of the light head 20 shown, the side walls 41 and 42 of the joint part 40 are aligned with the corresponding side walls 11 and 12 of the first housing 10, respectively.
- a different circumferential shape could also be selected for the joint part 40.
- the joint part 40 is rigidly connected to the light head 20, this connection via an in the Figures 7 and 8 closer recognizable screw connection takes place.
- two screws 25 are used for this, depending on the size and thus weight of the light head 20, however, the number of screws 25 can also be adapted accordingly.
- a circumferential seal 26 is provided in the connection area between the light head 20 and the joint part 40, which ensures that the joint part 40 and the light head 20 are rigidly and sealingly connected to one another.
- the joint part 40 is also pivotably arranged on the first housing 10, for this purpose the housing 10 has an opening 14 in a wall 13 facing the recess for receiving the joint 30 (see FIG Figure 5 ) having. This serves to receive a tubular projection 45 on the joint part 40, which engages in this opening 14 in the assembled state. Due to the circular shape of the opening 14 and the circular outer circumference of the projection 45, the rotatable mounting is realized, with an annular seal 46 again being provided in the contact area between the projection 45 and the housing 10, through which a seal is also provided in this transition area between the joint part 40 and the housing 10 is achieved.
- an angled passage opening 48 then extends to the connection area with the light head 20, which forms a passage for passing the supply lines between the operating device and the lighting means.
- An essential element of the pretensioning means is a sleeve-like tensioning element 50, which is provided with an external thread 51 on an end region facing away from the joint element 40.
- the clamping element 50 can then be screwed to a housing projection 17 of the first housing 10 via this external thread 51.
- This projection 17 has a circular opening 18 which is aligned centrally with respect to the joint axis I and has a corresponding internal thread. According to the representations of Figures 4 and 5 the clamping sleeve 50 can therefore be screwed into the housing projection 17 from the inside of the housing recess.
- the joint part 40 with the tubular projection 45 is inserted into the opening 14 of the housing 10 and the clamping sleeve 50 is again partially screwed out of the housing projection 17 in the direction of the joint part 14.
- the free space remaining between the two elements, i.e. the joint element 40 and the clamping sleeve 50, is bridged by a spacer 55, which on the one hand rests positively on an end region of the joint part 40 opposite the projection 45, and on the other hand has a recess into which the end region of the clamping sleeve opposite the external thread 51 50 intervenes.
- the circular recess of the spacer 55 also serves to additionally accommodate a plate spring 57, which is inserted into the recess 56 of the spacer or spacer 55 and causes a certain flexibility in the force transmission between the clamping sleeve 50 and the joint part 40. Any changes in length due to temperature differences in the housing 10 can thereby be absorbed and it is ensured that a continuous pressing force is permanently exerted on the joint part 40 in the direction of the ring seal 46 via the clamping sleeve 50. The level of this pressing force depends on how far the clamping sleeve 50 was screwed out of the housing projection 17 in the direction of the joint part 40, so that the force with which the light head 20 is pivoted relative to the first housing 10 can be set via this. In any case, however, the force is preferably so great that the light head 20 remains in the set angular position and does not pivot downwards by itself.
- the spacer 55 is used to bridge the remaining space between the joint part 40 and the clamping sleeve 50. This free space is initially required in order to enable the joint part 40 to be inserted into the housing opening 14.
- the force required to pivot the light head 20 can be adjusted.
- the clamping sleeve 50 is then preferably secured in the desired position, for example by means of a corresponding grub screw. This measure also contributes to the fact that the joint 30 permanently has a corresponding inhibition which prevents the light head 20 from pivoting independently.
- the pin 60 is also designed as a hollow pin so that a further screw 65 can be inserted into it. This is dimensioned longer than the pin 60 itself and engages with its end region in a further recess 49 in the joint part 40, which continues the first recess 47 in a tapered manner. That is, the screw 65 is screwed directly to the joint part 40 and presses or pulls the pin 60 in the direction of the housing projection 17. Its opening 18 now has an annular contact surface 19, with between the plate-like end region 61 of the pin 60 and this contact surface 19 a toothed disk 70 is inserted.
- a joint arrangement is ultimately created which is permanently sealed off from the environment and enables supply lines to be guided through in a protected manner from one housing to the other housing of the lamp.
- the pivoting position for the light head 20 can be easily established during the arrangement of the light at its place of use and then locked by temporarily loosening the screw 65, pivoting the light head 20 into the corresponding desired position and tightening the screw 65 again.
- a decisive advantage of the solution according to the invention is that during the setting of the pivot position and the subsequent locking, there is no risk of the sealing effect in the area of the joint 30 being temporarily canceled.
- the sealing effect is brought about in particular between the joint part 40 and the housing 10 by the prestressing sleeve 50, which continuously presses the joint part 40 in the direction of the housing opening 14.
- the position of this prestressing sleeve 50 is, however, independent of the loosening of the screw 65, so that a permanent seal is also achieved when the light head 20 is adjusted and locked. Even a complete removal of the pin 61 and the screw 65 would not impair the sealing effect of the joint 30 designed according to the invention.
- markings 63 are made on the outer surface of the end region 61 of the pin 60 (see FIG Figure 2 ). These can, for example, form a scale which, together with a marking 64 provided on the housing wall, enable the angular position of the light head 20 to be read off easily.
