Definitions
- the present invention is in the field of the collection of bio-waste, and it relates more particularly to a collection system ensuring at the same time cleaning of the containers in which the latter are stored.
- a collection system ensuring at the same time cleaning of the containers in which the latter are stored.
- bio-waste will be the subject of separate protocols involving the organization of specific collections, with traditional storage bins gradually being phased out due to the nature of bio-waste and the particular problems that arise from it.
- a bio-waste collection system already developed by the present applicant, it comprises a truck-type vehicle comprising a chassis equipped with a bio-waste storage tank, a hopper for receiving these waste, mechanical means for collecting bio-waste containers having at least one gripping arm and capable of moving each container between a location on the ground and at least one emptying position on the vehicle, and a washing module comprising means washing the container.
- THE Cleaning is obviously carried out after emptying the container, for example during the journey between two successive container collection locations. Upon arrival at each new location, the full container is loaded, and replaced by an empty, clean container. Most of the time the truck contains only one container, but at the time of collection and exchange it briefly contains two. The possibility of carrying out cleaning during the journey between two successive collection points does not cause any slowdown in collection operations, since cleaning is done in a sort of hidden time, while driving between two locations.
- washing means and the receiving hopper are arranged in two distinct and adjacent zones on the chassis of a processing space of the truck, the hopper of reception being located in the vicinity of a first side facade of the vehicle comprising the gripping arm and the washing means being placed in the vicinity of a second side facade, means for separating said zones being equipped on the one hand with fixing means containers in the tilted emptying position and on the other hand means for moving on the chassis of the vehicle between two positions of the containers fixed to the separation means, respectively above the washing means and the receiving hopper.
- One of the important characteristics of the invention therefore lies in a geometric delimitation of spaces which makes it possible to dissociate the functions, the devolution of said spaces being carried out according to the functions to be implemented, the whole preserving the possibility of implementing them concomitantly.
- a second aspect lies in the possibility of moving the containers between the two distinct functional spaces, one of which also opens towards the outside of the vehicle and allows container exchanges to be carried out. It should be noted that there already exist, in the literature, descriptions of solutions which show a separation of spaces for different functions.
- This truck dealing with containers that have already been largely emptied, therefore does not include a bio-waste storage tank, nor a receiving hopper, which is in no way necessary in the absence of emptying a full container.
- the inverted containers are in direct contact with the plate, whereas in the invention they are fixed to the means of separation between stations, which, and this is another difference in configuration, move to move from one position to another, whereas in the state of the art, it is the board that rotates.
- the separation means may have a wall separating the zones respectively of the washing means and of the receiving hopper when it is in a stable, immobile position, said wall being provided, on each of its faces, means for fixing a bio-waste container, drive means moving said wall in rotation along a vertical axis in the processing space of the truck.
- the wall is, in section perpendicular to the axis of rotation, Z-shaped.
- the system of the invention in fact comprises a gripping arm arranged near the first side facade of the vehicle and comprising means for attaching to a container, said means of hooking comprising means for tilting said container between two inverted vertical positions, the arm having means for rectilinear movement between a position in the vicinity of the hopper for receiving bio-waste and a position at a distance from the first facade of the truck.
- the gripping arm is therefore located, in one of its extreme rectilinear positions, in the immediate vicinity of the hopper, at a location calculated so that the container is just above the hopper.
- the movement is also limited to a rectilinear movement, which means that the journey of full containers is minimized, reducing the risks of loss of bio-waste outside the receiving hopper/storage tank assembly.
- soles protrude from the body of the container, provided with means of securing to the fixing means of the movable separation wall.
- the soles simply rest on said fixing means, which are capable of blocking the movements of the container.
- These soles can also be used, if necessary, to immobilize the containers on the ground, if necessary.
- the separation wall can comprise a central rotating shaft connected to the rotation drive means, and consoles projecting symmetrically from either side of the wall, a pair of consoles on each side, separated by a distance greater than the largest transverse dimension of the container and comprising means for attaching the soles of a container.
- each console can have at least one upper lug capable of being inserted into at least one opening made in the sole.
- the sole protruding from the bottom wall of a container can, according to one possibility, have two ears protruding symmetrically from the volume of the container, each of these ears being provided with an opening consisting of a shaped slot and dimensions corresponding to that of an upper lug fitted to each console.
- the sole In the inverted position of the container, the sole is on top, and it simply rests, as mentioned before, on the consoles, immobilized by the slots/lugs cooperation.
- the truck driver semi-automatically activates a gripping arm which deploys laterally, along a rectilinear axis substantially perpendicular to the axis of the truck.
- the arm grabs the full, dirty container, which is located on a base. This base immobilizes the container on the ground to prevent any overturning or movement of the container.
- the arm lifts the container, brings it back into the truck enclosure by a movement in the opposite direction to the direction of initial deployment, and overturns it above the waste reception hopper, a tilting movement which allows it at the same time to hang it in the mobile structure, that is to say more precisely on the central rotating wall, mounted on a vertical axis relative to which it can rotate through 360° in successive paths of 180°. It's a sort of carousel for overturned trash cans.
- the attachment in the carousel happens as follows: The arm places the inverted container, that is to say with the sole now at the top, on the two consoles parallel to the ground of the central wall of the carousel , between which the container has sufficient space to position itself. The lugs protruding vertically from the upper surface of the parallel consoles are then inserted into the slots fitted to the sole, which consequently rests on said consoles forming supports for the soles, and therefore for the overturned containers. The lugs of the supports are placed in the sole slots, which immobilizes the overturned container on the moving part of the carousel, within the confines of the truck.
- the separation wall which can always include a central rotating shaft connected to the rotation drive means, this time comprises fixed plates projecting symmetrically from either side of the wall, each fixed plate being connected rotating with a movable plate of substantially the same dimension capable of taking at least two positions respectively aligned with the fixed plate and perpendicular to it, the two plates being parallelepiped in shape, preferably rectangular with a large dimension L greater than a small dimension 1 and a thickness e, and separated by a distance d.
- the container is adapted to these particular fixing means, and can include a hollowed out base, under its bottom, provided with two parallel bars of length greater than D, spaced apart from each other by a distance greater than the small dimension l and whose distance from the bottom is greater than e.
- the container is positioned by centering the mobile plate, turned 90° from the fixed plate, between the bars of the base, then by rotating said mobile plate so as to make it aligned with the fixed plate, therefore trapping the bars between the two decks.
- a container exchange can occur since the truck can contain a clean container, located in the cleaning area of the truck and washed during the journey between two successive collection sites.
- the carousel rotates 180° to pass the empty and cleaned container from the cleaning area to the waste reception area, at the same time as it passes the dirty and just emptied container to the cleaning area .
- the arm seizes this clean container, unhooks it from the carousel by extracting it according to a vertical movement of the upper lugs of the parallel consoles, returns it according to a movement opposite to the initial tilting for emptying, takes it out of the truck enclosure by a movement horizontal in appearance, moving it laterally away from the vehicle and placing it on a base located on the ground.
- a cleaning cycle begins during this time for the container placed, in the carousel, above the cleaning means in the eponymous zone.
- the arm then unhooks from the clean container placed back on its base, and folds.
- the truck leaves for a new site while washing the container remaining in the carousel.
- an empty bio-waste container in the rolling position, between two container collection locations, an empty bio-waste container therefore finds itself in a carousel, placed above a cleaning space provided with washing means, the truck also including, adjacent to the cleaning zone, a waste receiving hopper, said zones being separated by a rotating device capable of transporting the containers from one side to the other.
- This space is located between the front axle of the truck and these rear axles, and its dimensions are such that the rotation of the carousel, including when it is carrying two containers, is possible.
- the vehicle 1 in this case a waste collection truck, mainly comprises, on a chassis equipped with a front cockpit 8, a box or storage tank 2, a hopper 3 equipped with a compactor (not shown), a gripping arm 4 movable in several degrees of freedom and, located between the hopper 3 and a first side wall of the truck 1, a washing module provided with washing means 5.
- a rotating wall 9 separates the zone drain comprising the hopper 3 of the washing zone 5.
- This wall 9 is the main element of the carousel according to the invention, and it is rotated by rotary motor means, for example an electric motor (not shown).
- a 6.6' container of bio-waste can be moved via the arm 4 between a position on a base 7 fixed to the ground, and a position inside the enclosure of the truck 1.
- FIG. 1 which shows the state of the system of the invention at the end of a driving phase, when the vehicle 1 arrives near a collection site comprising a container 6 placed on its base 7.
- a container 6 ' which has just been washed is available in truck 1, ready to be substituted for the one in place.
- the arm 4 retracts in the opposite direction towards the truck 1 and, when the container 6 is placed above the hopper 3, said container 6 is attached to the wall 9 in a manner which will be explained in more detail in the following, in the vicinity of the side facade of the truck 1 proximal to the location of the container 6.
- the arm 4 tilts it so that the cover of the container 6 is at the bottom and opens by gravity, letting its contents spill out in said hopper 3.
- the emptying is therefore carried out in the step illustrated in Figure 3 , but container 6 is still dirty.
- the container 6' placed in the washing zone is clean, and ready to replace the container 6 which has just been collected.
- the carousel via the wall 9 supporting the 6.6' containers, begins a rotation, illustrated in Figure 4 , so as to reverse the positions of the two containers 6, 6'.
- the cleaned container 6' is found near the arm 4, on the receiving hopper 3, still turned over, since it is in this state that rotation is possible, obviously empty.
- the arm 4 grips it and turns it around, then deploys in a direction perpendicular to the facade of the truck 1 which it crosses, as shown in Figure 5 , to then rest it on its base 7. Only a single container 6 remains in the enclosure of the truck 1, as appears in Figure 6 , ready to be cleaned, which is done during the journey to the next collection site.
- each container 6, 6' comprises, in addition to its envelope or peripheral volume 60, a bottom provided with a sole 61 projecting two opposite sides of the envelope 60, the surface portions protruding from the envelope 60 forming two ears 62, 62' each provided with a slot 63, 63'.
- a cover 64 is mounted hinged along an edge of the main opening of the container 6, 6'.
- the central wall 9 forming the main element of the carousel, appearing in Figure 10 comprises a central vertical shaft 11 materializing the pivot axis, and pairs of brackets 12, 12', 13, 13' developing in a substantially horizontal plane on either side of the wall 9, symmetrically with respect to She.
- These consoles each include an upper lug 14, 14' each limited by two oblique centering flats, and the dimensions of the base of which correspond substantially to the dimensions of the slot, so that the insertion of the lugs 14, 14' in the two slots 63, 63' of a sole 61 result in securing the container 6, 6' to the wall 9 so as to immobilize them relative to each other.
- the containers 6, 6' are inverted, lid 64 opened by gravity, that is to say naturally ready to be drained or cleaned, depending on their positioning relative to the central wall 9 of the carousel, if that -it is immobilized. In fact, it only has one immobilization position, the space separation position, and moves in successive cycles rotating through 180°.
- the lids 64 it is of course necessary that the distance between the openings of the containers 6, 6' and in particular the opening of the hopper 3 be sufficient. It's necessary therefore that this distance is greater than the transverse dimension of the articulated cover in a direction perpendicular to the articulation.
- FIG. 12 shows a container 6 adapted to the alternative configuration with a fixed and rotating plain (not shown), which comprises a hollow base 600 provided with two parallel bars 601 between which the mobile plate is inserted, when it is in the perpendicularly pivoted position to the fixed plate, which is possible since the bars 601 have a length greater than its long length L.
- the insertion is done at a level sufficiently close to the bottom 602 so that the mobile plate is between the bars 601 and the bottom 602
- said movable plate is pivoted so that it aligns substantially with the other, and the bars are found between the two plates, placed in a “sandwich” and fixed to the wall 9 of the carousel.
