Dabei wird das vom Abnehmer kommende Vlies durch ein Vliesleitelement zu einem Vliesband zusammengeführt und einem Vorverdichterring zugeführt. Das Vliesband wird anschliessend einer ersten und einer nachfolgenden zweiten Einführvorrichtung zugeführt, wobei die zweite Einführvorrichtung mit einer Druckluftzuführung versehen ist. Die erste Einführvorrichtung ragt dabei in die zweite Einführvorrichtung. Mit der Druckluft wird im Zwischenraum zwischen der ersten Einführvorrichtung und der zweiten Einführvorrichtung eine Luftströmung mit einem Drall derart erzeugt, dass in der Folge in der ersten Einführvorrichtung ein Unterdruck entsteht. Dabei wird das Faservlies 17 quer zu seiner Bewegungsrichtung 23 im Ausgangswalzenpaar 9 zwischen die beiden Querbänder 20 geführt. Durch diese Bewegung 29 der Querbänder 20 wird das sich über die Länge des Ausgangswalzenpaares 9 ausgedehnte Faservlies 17 durch die Querbänder 20 zum Vliesband 18 zusammengeführt. Damit die Fasern nicht quer zur Bewegungsrichtung 29 der Querbänder 20 während des Zusammenführens ausweichen, können die Querbänder 20 an ihren Oberflächen mit Begrenzungsprofilen 22 versehen sein.
