Definitions
- the invention relates to a multi-chamber film bag for an inorganic multi-component foam system and the use of the multi-chamber film bag for packaging and / or processing an inorganic multi-component foam system.
- the invention also relates to the use of the multi-chamber film bag in a method for producing an in-situ foam, in particular an inorganic fire protection foam.
- a reactive material consisting of two components is mixed on site and introduced into the opening.
- the reactive material should be stable until it hardens so that it does not flow out of the opening again.
- the stability is achieved by adjusting the viscosity of the material accordingly.
- the reactive components are placed separately in two-component cartridges and mixed with a static mixer.
- Static mixers are not suitable for mixtures of powder components and liquids because bridging occurs in the powder component, which prevents mixing in the static mixer due to pressure.
- Masses consisting of powder and liquids are therefore mechanically mixed with one another in an open vessel with the aid of stirring rods or other mixing aids.
- the mixed mass can then be manually introduced into the opening to be filled and / or brought into the desired shape, or it can be filled into further application aids such as dough presses and introduced into the opening.
- the powder is to be mixed with the liquid in a closed container, further aids such as balls are required in a room that is partially filled with air. An essentially liquid consistency of the mixture is required to empty the container.
- liquid two-component potting resins which are introduced into a two-chamber film bag with a clamp closure.
- the potting resin is mixed by hand after removing the clamp and then poured into cable lugs, for example.
- Multi-component systems for the production of gypsum foams and / or cement foams by mixing in open vessels are for example from the EP 2 045 227 A known.
- This publication describes a hydraulically setting composition for the production of inorganic fire protection or insulating in-situ foams with a pH-neutral or alkaline hydraulic binder and a foaming component and a foam stabilizer, the foaming component releasing oxygen or carbon dioxide.
- the known inorganic fire protection systems can only be introduced into openings with difficulty and can often only be used as a potting compound with complex shuttering devices.
- the invention is based on the object of providing a simple, user-friendly and inexpensive form of application and packaging for the rapid mixing of powder and liquids in a closed container, in particular for an inorganic foam based on plaster of paris or mortar for fire protection applications.
- the application form should allow the components to be mixed without complex tools and allow the foam system to be introduced into narrow and / or difficult-to-access openings.
- the invention also relates to the use of the multi-chamber film bag according to claim 10 for packaging and / or processing an inorganic multi-component foam system, as well as a method for producing an in-situ foam from an inorganic multi-component Foam system using the multi-chamber film bag according to the invention with the features of claim 11.
- the invention provides a multi-chamber film bag for an inorganic multi-component foam system with at least two liquid-tight separate chambers, one of the chambers with a powdered inorganic component, optionally based on gypsum or cement mortar, and another chamber with one, optionally for the inorganic component is filled with reactive, powdery foaming component, and with a separating element which separates the chambers from one another in a liquid-tight manner in a first state and can provide a flow connection between the chambers in a second state, at least one of the chambers having an opening section which is for discharge of the foam system can be opened, and wherein the chamber having the opening section has a preset residual volume for receiving a liquid.
- the multi-chamber film pouch according to the invention makes it possible to provide a film package with fixed quantities of the reactive components predetermined by the packaging for the inorganic foam system present in powder form. In this way, incorrect dosing by the user can be safely avoided and the mixture is ready for immediate use. It is particularly advantageous that a liquid required to produce the foam, usually water, is only introduced into the film bag when it is used on site, thus saving transport weight and transport volume. Due to the specified filling volume, precise dosing of the liquid is possible without measuring instruments.
- the separating element of the multi-chamber film bag can easily be opened without tools. Good mixing results can be achieved by simply kneading the components. No mixing or squeezing tools are required to discharge the foam system. Nevertheless, it remains possible to use the film bag according to the invention for dispensing residual amounts with a known film dispenser for one-component materials.
- the opening section provided in at least one of the chambers for discharging the foam system can be designed as a tapering outlet, for example as a nozzle tip, and thus enable the foam system to be metered into narrow and difficult-to-access openings. Furthermore, after the components have been mixed in the foil bag, the foam system can already be present in a stable, pasty consistency in order to prevent the mass from flowing out of the openings to be filled.
- the invention also provides an inexpensive and space-saving film packaging. During the mixing of the possibly reactive components in the foil bag, no dust can develop from the powdery component. Contact of the user with the reactive foam components during mixing is excluded, so that a health hazard from reactive components is avoided. Finally, mixing tools and containers do not need to be cleaned as the components are mixed within the film packaging.
- the invention is described below using a two-component foam system, the invention also includes multi-component systems and can be implemented with little effort that have more than two, possibly reactive components, which are separated from one another in the film bag in more than two by separating elements separate chambers are introduced.
- the multi-component foam system is a two-component foam system of an inorganic fire protection foam or insulating foam with at least one hydraulic binder, at least one foaming system and optionally a foam stabilizer.
- Cement in particular Portland cement, trass, pozzolans, hydraulic limes and gypsum or mixtures thereof can be used as the hydraulic binding agent.
- the foaming system can be formed, for example, from an alkali metal or alkaline earth metal carbonate or hydrogen carbonate as the powder component and a powdered acid as the foaming component.
- a powdery acid is a chemical compound that, when dissolved in water, causes an acidic reaction, for example citric acid or water-soluble salts of a weak base and a strong acid.
- the foaming system can alternatively or additionally comprise an oxygen carrier and a catalyst.
- Powdered peroxides or percarbonates in particular sodium percarbonate, can serve as oxygen carriers for the foam component.
- the catalyst can preferably comprise manganese dioxide MnO 2 in powder form.
- At least one of the chambers of the multi-chamber film bag according to the invention has an opening section which can be opened to fill the chamber with a liquid and then discharge the foam system.
- the chamber having the opening section has a preset residual volume for receiving the liquid, so that the inorganic powdery component, the foaming component and the liquid produce a ready-to-use foam after mixing.
- the determination of the quantities required for this the components and the liquid are generally known to those skilled in the art.
- the liquid is water.
- the residual volume means the volume of the chamber remaining after one of the components has been filled into the chamber having the opening section.
- the presetting can take place in that the volume of the chamber remaining after the powder component has been filled in corresponds exactly to the amount of liquid required to produce a ready-to-use foam.
- the presetting can, however, also be carried out by a marking provided on the chamber. In this case, the chamber is not completely filled even after the liquid has been filled. In both cases, however, the liquid can be precisely dosed without additional measuring instruments.
- the foaming component is present in the chamber having the opening section.
- the separating element can be designed as a peel seam or as a clamping element.
- the peel seam can be made by heat sealing or welding the opposing film walls of the film bag in an edge region of a chamber, so that this chamber is separated from the adjacent chamber of the film bag in a liquid-tight manner.
- the tear strength of the peel seam can be adjusted so that the peel seam is torn open by pressure on one of the chambers and a flow connection is provided between the chambers.
- the separating element can be designed as a clamping seam.
- the clamping seam can be formed in the manner of a lip closure pocket or zipper connection with two clamping strips that engage one another. It is also possible to attach a clamping rail to the film bag from the outside, with one flat side of the film bag being placed on the clamping rail provided with a longitudinal slot and then being pressed into the longitudinal slot with a flexible or rod-shaped clamping strip from the other flat side of the film bag. As a result, the opposing film walls of the film bag are pressed together and a liquid-tight separation of the chambers in the film bag adjoining the clamp closure is created.
- the clamping rail and / or the clamping strip can be provided as loose parts. This enables flexible division of the chambers in the foil bag. According to a further embodiment, the clamping rail and / or the clamping strip is already attached to the outer wall of the film bag, for example by gluing or welding.
- the separating element can be provided with compulsory mixing compounds, which enable a faster and more homogeneous mixing of the inorganic powder component with the foaming component dissolved in the liquid during use.
- compulsory mixing compounds which enable a faster and more homogeneous mixing of the inorganic powder component with the foaming component dissolved in the liquid during use.
- fixed webs can be provided between the opposing foils of the foil bag, or weld seams can be provided which remain and do not tear open when one of the chambers is pressed.
- the multi-chamber film bag can be designed as a stand-up bag, as a flat bag or as a tubular bag.
- Stand-up pouches are usually equipped with a W-fold in the bottom area, which expands when the chamber is filled in the bottom area and ensures that the foil bag stands firmly.
- Flat bags are usually formed by laying two plastic foils on top of one another and welding the foils around the edge.
- Tubular bags are created by spraying the plastic films from round nozzles to form a film tube and welding the tube ends on the bottom or clamping the tube ends with a metal or plastic bracket.
- the multi-chamber film bag is preferably designed as a flat bag with a weld seam running around the edge.
- the opening section for discharging the foam system is provided with a screw closure welded into the film bag.
- a screw cap allows the attachment of commercially available cartridge nozzles or nozzle tips with which the Foam system can be discharged from the foil bag depending on the desired application at the application site.
- the opening section for discharging the foam system can be formed by a nozzle tip or plastic spout that is welded into the film bag, preferably tapering to a cone or a point. If necessary, the nozzle tip or nozzle can also be extended by attaching another plastic tip.
- the nozzle tip or plastic sleeve is preferably closed at its free end and is cut open at the application site depending on the desired size of the nozzle opening or can be broken off at a designated weakening zone such as a tear notch or an annular predetermined breaking point. No scissors or knives are required. The filling of on-site openings is quick, easy and inexpensive.
- the opening section for discharging the foam system is particularly preferably formed by a spout formed in one piece on the film bag.
- the spout can be tubular or tapered or tapered towards its free end opposite the chamber.
- the spout is provided at its free end with a weakening zone such as a tear seam, for example, which allows the spout to be torn open without tools. In this way, even openings that are difficult to access can be filled quickly, easily and inexpensively with the foam system.
- the invention thus also relates to a use of the multi-chamber film bag for packaging and / or processing an inorganic multi-component foam system.
- an in-situ foam can be produced from an inorganic multi-component foam system, one of the chambers of the multi-chamber film bag being filled with a powdery inorganic component and another chamber being filled with a powdery foaming component, the chambers in a first storage state are separated from one another in a liquid-tight manner by a separating element, and wherein in a second state of use a flow connection between the chambers can be provided by opening the separating element, the opening section being temporarily opened before the separating element is opened and the preset residual volume of the chamber having the opening portion is filled with a liquid.
- a flow connection is provided between the chambers by opening the partition element and the components and the liquid are mixed. After the components and the water have been mixed, the foam formed is discharged from the opening section and introduced into an opening to be filled.
- the inorganic multicomponent foam system is preferably a two-component foam system, and particularly preferably a fire protection foam.
- the mixing of the inorganic powder component with the powdery foaming component and the liquid is preferably carried out, in the state of use, by manually kneading the mass in the temporarily closed foil bag.
- the opening section can be closed again before the partition element is opened.
- the expansion of the foam formed from the foam system during the mixing can be taken into account by not filling the entire chamber volume with the inorganic powder component or the foaming component. A sufficient compensating volume is thus available in the film bag until the mixture is complete and the opening section can be opened again.
- the foam formed from the foam system can then be discharged from the opening section by pressure on the end of the film bag opposite the opening section and introduced into the opening to be filled.
- the use of nozzle tips with a tapered press-out opening and a predetermined opening cross-section enables the foam system to be introduced in a targeted manner, even into narrow gaps with poor accessibility.
- the nozzle tips can be provided with weakening zones so that no scissors or a knife are required to open the extrusion tips.
- the on-site openings can thus be filled with the foam system quickly, easily and inexpensively.
- the multi-chamber film bag 10 shown is designed as a flat bag with a circumferential weld seam 12 and an opening section 14 in the form of a spout molded in one piece on the film bag for discharging the foam system.
- the bag 10 has two chambers 16, 18, the chamber 16 containing a solid inorganic powder component 20 and the other chamber 18 containing a powdery foaming component 22.
- the chambers 16, 18 are delimited by the peripheral weld seam 12 and a separating element 24, shown here as a heat-sealed peel seam.

- the chambers 16, 18 are delimited by the peripheral weld seam 12 and a separating element 24, shown here as a clamping rail 28 with a clamping strip 30.
- the clamping rail 28 is placed on one flat side of the film bag 10 and then the clamping strip 30 is pressed in from the other flat side of the film bag 10 from a longitudinal slot formed in the clamping rail. As a result, the opposite film walls of the film bag 10 are pressed together in the storage state.
- forced mixed connections 32 in the form of interrupted weld seams are also provided, which after opening the opening section 14, filling the chamber 18 through the opening formed with a liquid, preferably water, and then opening the clamping element 24 when the film bag 10 is in use ensure a forced mixing of the components in the chambers 16, 18.
- the tear seam 26 formed on the spout 14 to facilitate opening of the bag This can advantageously be supplemented or replaced by a notch.
- a nozzle tip welded into the foil bag or a screw cap can be provided, onto which a cartridge nozzle can be placed.
- the powder component 20 in all embodiments preferably comprises a hydraulically setting binder based on gypsum or cement mortar, as well as the solid constituents of the foaming system such as an alkali or alkaline earth carbonate and / or a catalyst for releasing oxygen from an oxygen carrier.

- the opening section 14 is opened and the chamber 18, which preferably contains the foaming component, is filled with a liquid, preferably water, through the opening formed.
- the opening section is then again locked. This can be done manually or by using a bracket, for example.
- the powder component contained in the chamber 18 can be dispersed or dissolved in the liquid.
- the separating element 24 is then opened and a flow connection is established between the chambers 16, 18.
- the film bag 10 thus changes from the storage state in which the chambers 16, 18 are separated in a liquid-tight manner, into the state of use.
- the solid inorganic powder component 20 is mixed with the dissolved foaming component 22 by manual kneading to form a foam with the opening section 14 closed.
