Zudem ist wenigstens eine Bandführungslanze 9 vorgesehen, die mit einem Antrieb 8, zwischen einer den Bandführungsbogen 3 portalbodenseitig zum Verlagern des Packstücks 2 mit der Fördereinrichtung 7 freigebenden Ruhelage und einer den Bandführungsbogen 3 portalbodenseitig schließenden Arbeitslage zum Umreifen des Packstücks 2 mit Umreifungsband verlagerbar ist. Der Bandführungsbogen 3 und die Bandführungslanze 9 in ihrer Arbeitslage bilden einen um den Packraum umlaufenden Bandführungskanal 11 für das Umreifungsband, der an seinen dem Packraum 1 zugewandten Innenseiten Mittel zur Freigabe des Umreifungsbandes aus dem Bandführungskanal 3 in Richtung des Packraumes 1 aufweist. Die Umreifungsvorrichtung ruht auf dem Portalboden 10 auf. Nach der Erfindung besteht die Bandführungslanze aus einer Mehrzahl an Kettengliedern 12, die über eine Umlenkung 13 um zumindest annähernd 90° mit dem Antrieb 8 zwischen der den Bandführungsbogen 3 portalbodenseitig schließenden, horizontal liegenden Arbeitslage (
