  • the prior art of Fig. 1 proposes the clips 17 as a simple means to electrically connect the cage 12 with the adaptor board 4.
  • the clips 17 are soldered to the board 4 and clips mechanically onto the cage 12, thus any soldering on the cage is avoided while at the same time, the cage 12 provides some lateral stability to the adaptor board 4 such that possibly some attachment points for the board 4 can be avoided. In this way, the cost of the connector assembly of the prior art in Fig. 1 can be lowered.
  • a main object is consequently to propose an improved connector assembly which is more cost effective while retaining all antenna properties.
  • This connector assembly overcomes the above problems by getting rid of the printed circuit board, the clips and the impedance matching components all together. Instead, the cage is extended with a part corresponding to the adaptor board, making effectively the cage and adaptor board an integral, one-piece part.
  • the transmission line with the signal and ground conductors are connected (e.g. by soldering) to this integral part together with the antenna element.
  • This may seem like a short-circuit of the antenna transmission line and the antenna element.
  • a slit is introduced in between where the signal conductor and the ground conductor is connected to the integral part. This provides enough separation to avoid a short-circuit and further provides the impedance matching of the antenna element.

  • the impedance matching part 10 comprises a slit 14 in a portion of the continuous metallic surface with the signal attachment portion 6 positioned on one side 15 of the slit 14 and the ground attachment portion 8 positioned on another side 16 of the slit 14. In this way, the impedance matching is effected without the use of lump components and also production and mounting steps are only required for one part instead of two parts of the prior art.
  • the slit 14 should be long enough to provide enough spacing between signal and ground, see Fig. 2 . Obviously, the slit 14 cannot cut through the whole of the integral part from one side to another, since then it would no longer be an integral one-piece part.
  • the integral part 13 is made of a printed circuit board with the continuous metallic surface being a metal layer of the printed circuit board and the three dimensional aspect of the metal cage 12 arises from metallic pins (not shown in Fig. 2 ) attached electrically conducting to the metal layer at distances from each other to shield radio waves.
  • the slit 14 in the metal layer could for instance be attained by ordinary etching of the printed circuit board.
  • the integral part 13 is made of a sheet metal and the three dimensional aspect of the metal cage 12 arising from at least one fold in at least a part the sheet metal. This may prove even more economical, since sheet metal is generally less expensive compared to a printed circuit board and no etching is required.
  • the slit 14 could for instance be accomplished in the same working steps as when otherwise shaping the integral part 13 from a sheet metal.
  • the invention further comprises an antenna assembly comprising an antenna element 2, an antenna transmission line 3 having a signal conductor 7 and a ground conductor 9, and a connector assembly 1 according to any of the previous embodiments of the invention.

Claims (5)

  1. Ensemble de connecteur (1) pour connecter un élément d'antenne (2) à une ligne de transmission d'antenne (3), l'ensemble de connecteur (1) comprenant :
    - un adaptateur (4) comprenant :
    - une partie de fixation d'élément d'antenne (5), pour la connexion de l'élément d'antenne (2) à l'adaptateur (4),
    - une partie de fixation de signal (6), pour la connexion d'un conducteur de signal (7) de la ligne de transmission (3) à l'adaptateur (4), où la partie de fixation d'élément d'antenne (5) est en connexion électrique avec la partie de fixation de signal (6),
    - une partie de fixation de masse (8), pour la connexion d'un conducteur de masse (9) de la ligne de transmission (3) à l'adaptateur (4),
    - une partie d'adaptation d'impédance (10), conçue pour adapter l'impédance de l'élément d'antenne (2) à la ligne de transmission d'antenne (3),
    l'ensemble de connecteur (1) comprenant en outre :
    - une cage métallique de blindage (12) pour blinder les circuits radio dans trois dimensions spatiales,
    dans lequel l'adaptateur (4) est connecté physiquement à la cage métallique (12) et la cage métallique (12) est connectée électriquement à la partie de fixation de masse (8) de l'adaptateur (4),
    caractérisé en ce que :
    l'adaptateur (4) et la cage métallique (12) forment une partie intégrale (13) avec une surface métallique continue constituant à la fois la cage métallique (12) et une surface sur l'adaptateur (4) sur laquelle la partie de fixation d'élément d'antenne (5), la partie de fixation de signal (6) et la partie de fixation de masse (8) sont formées, dans lequel la partie d'adaptation d'impédance (10) comprend une fente (14) dans une partie de la surface métallique continue avec la partie de fixation de signal (6) positionnée d'un côté (15) de la fente (14) et la partie de fixation de masse (8) positionnée de l'autre côté (16) de la fente (14).
  2. Ensemble de connecteur (1) selon la revendication 1, dans lequel la partie intégrale (13) est constituée d'une carte de circuit imprimé avec la surface métallique continue qui est une couche métallique de la carte de circuit imprimé et l'aspect tridimensionnel de la cage métallique (12) provenant de broches métalliques attachées conduisant électriquement à la couche métallique à distance les unes des autres pour protéger des ondes radio.
  3. Ensemble de connecteur (1) selon la revendication 1, dans lequel la partie intégrale (13) est constituée d'une tôle et l'aspect tridimensionnel de la cage métallique (12) provenant d'au moins un pli dans au moins une partie de la tôle.
  4. Ensemble d'antenne comprenant :
    - un élément d'antenne (2),
    - une ligne de transmission d'antenne (3) ayant un conducteur de signal (7) et un conducteur de masse (9),
    - un ensemble de connecteur (1) selon l'une quelconque des revendications 1 à 3,
    dans lequel l'élément d'antenne (2) est connecté à la partie de fixation d'élément d'antenne (5) de l'adaptateur (4) et le conducteur de signal d'antenne (7) est connecté à la partie de fixation de signal (6) de l'adaptateur (4).
  5. Machine ou dispositif comprenant un ensemble d'antenne selon la revendication 4.
