Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a device for applying adhesive and/or sealant, which has a housing for receiving a container containing the adhesive and/or sealant.
  • a device for applying adhesive and/or sealant which has a housing for receiving a container containing the adhesive and/or sealant.
  • Such devices are, for example, from the DE 39 37 299 A1 , WO 99/44904 A2 , WO 2013/118582 A1 , JP 2007 276879 A and EP 2 368 812 A1 famous.
  • the adhesive and/or sealant should be able to be dosed particularly precisely and without great effort.
  • a device for applying adhesive and/or sealant is specified with a housing for receiving a container containing the adhesive and/or sealant, the housing having a receiving space for receiving the container and a closable container connected to the receiving space Application peak through which the adhesive and sealant can escape.
  • the housing also has a stable encasing of the receiving space and at least one area of the housing designed as a deformable pressure area, which allows pressure to be exerted from the outside on the container that can be arranged in the receiving space.
  • a container is understood to be a body filled with adhesive and/or sealant, which can be inserted into the device.
  • the device can be refilled by replacing the container.
  • the container can be designed in particular as a cartridge or tube and be made of a plastic material or a metallic material such as aluminum.
  • a stable cover is understood to mean a cover that is not intrinsically deformable when the device is used as intended.
  • the stable casing is not made of a material that can be deformed during normal use, but rather is made of a rigid material.
  • an optionally exchangeable container is accommodated in the housing in such a way that adhesive and/or sealant can escape from the container.
  • the escape of the adhesive and/or sealant is caused by pressure on the container.
  • a pressure area which is deformable is provided in the otherwise stable, ie non-deformable, covering of the receiving space.
  • the device has the advantage that the container is held securely in the housing, which is largely made of a stable material, but metering of adhesive and/or sealant is particularly easy and precise because of the deformable pressure area. Accordingly, the device facilitates the application of adhesive and/or sealant. It also allows for the use of a replaceable adhesive, thereby reducing waste.
  • the pressure area has a deformable, in particular elastic material, for example rubber.
  • the pressure area can be formed entirely from a deformable material. This gives the pressure area itself a deformability that allows pressure to be exerted on the container through the material of the pressure area.
  • the deformability of the pressure area is also achieved in that the pressure area has at least one movable area which is separated from the rest of the housing surrounding it by a zone with increased deformability.
  • the zone with increased deformability can be easily deformed in such a way that pressure exerted on the pressure area is transferred to the container with almost no losses.
  • a zone of increased deformability is understood as meaning an area which is particularly easily deformable, in particular more easily deformable than areas adjoining it.
  • the zone with increased deformability can be formed, for example, by an area with a low material thickness or by an easily deformable material, with an easily deformable material being understood to mean a material whose deformation requires lower forces than the rest of the material in the pressure area.
  • an easily deformable material being understood to mean a material whose deformation requires lower forces than the rest of the material in the pressure area.
  • An area of thin gauge means an area of thin gauge that is less than the gauge of material in areas immediately adjacent to the thin gauge area.
  • the zone with increased deformability is also formed in that the material of the pressure area is inverted in such a way that it is inverted when the movable area is pressed in and allows the movable area to move against the rest of the housing surrounding it.
  • Invagination of the material is understood to mean an arrangement of the material in a small space, from which it can be brought to a greater extent when the movable area is pressed in, without the material having to be deformed.
  • An example of such an arrangement is a bellows, it also being possible for just a single fold to be provided.
  • Such configurations of the zone with increased deformability have the advantage that, individually or in combination with one another, they are suitable for ensuring good mobility of the movable area and thus good force transmission to the container.
  • the at least one printing area has a top and a bottom, the top being exposed on the surface of the housing and the bottom facing a stable, movable structure that delimits the receiving space below the at least one printing area.
  • a stable, movable structure is understood to mean a structure that is inherently stable, i.e. not deformable, but which is mounted in such a way that the entire structure is movable.
  • it can be an elongate structure, one end of which is fixed to or integral with the stable casing, while the rest of the structure is free so that it springs towards its free end when pressure is applied.
  • the stable, moveable structure has the advantage that it enables a particularly efficient and even power transmission from the pressure area to the container. In addition, it stabilizes the housing of the device.
  • the design of the stable, movable structure also allows the location of the force transmission to be fixed on the container. For example, it can be achieved that the adhesive and/or sealant is squeezed out from the closed end of the container, regardless of where a user exerts pressure on the pressure area.
  • the stable, movable structure can be arranged below the movable area and thus between the movable area and the container arranged in the receiving space.
  • the movable structure can be in contact with both the container and the movable area.
  • the device has two pressure areas formed on opposite sides of the housing.
  • the device can also be held rotated by 180 degrees. It is also possible to apply pressure to both pressure areas at the same time, e.g. with the thumb on one side and with the index finger on the opposite side.
  • the stable casing is made of hard plastic, which is particularly well suited for producing such housings, for example using the injection molding process.
  • the deformable material may have a number of perforations. These improve the feel in the pressure area by making it more difficult for the fingers to slip off during handling. In addition, they visually emphasize the pressure area, which also contributes to better handling, because the areas in which pressure must be exerted to squeeze out adhesive and/or sealant are easier to see.
  • the openings can be arranged in particular in the movable area of the printing area.
  • the device has an extended handle area, which is formed in that the housing extends in the longitudinal direction of the device beyond the receiving space for receiving the container.
  • the container In order to prevent the adhesive and/or sealant from drying out when not in use for a long time, the container should not be too large. Rather, the volume of adhesive and/or sealant contained therein should typically be able to be used up within a period of time during which a loss in quality of the adhesive and/or sealant is not to be expected.
  • the container can thus advantageously be made relatively short.
  • the housing should not be less than a certain length in order to ensure that the device lies comfortably and securely in the hand.
  • the extended grip area is provided, which extends in the longitudinal direction of the device beyond the receiving space and is therefore arranged at that end of the device that faces away from the applicator tip.
  • the extended grip area can be made from the material of the stable cover. It is therefore stable and can be formed in one piece with the stable casing.
  • a second container is also accommodated in the housing.
  • This can have, for example, a second component using a two-component adhesive and/or sealant, with the first container described at the outset containing the first component.
  • the second container can be designed as a pen, for example for dispensing an activating agent for the adhesive and/or sealant contained in the first container described above.
  • the second container can be used as a highlighter in the pen-like design.
  • the container can be arranged in particular in an extended grip area of the device.
  • the device can have a further application tip at its end opposite the application tip for adhesive and/or sealant, at which end a tip of the second container is exposed.
  • This embodiment has the advantage that the device is particularly versatile.
  • the otherwise unused space within the extended handle area could be used for another container, for example for dispensing an activating agent.
  • the device 1 for applying adhesive has a housing 2 formed of hard plastic.
  • a cyanoacrylate adhesive is used as the adhesive, which is also commonly known as superglue or superglue.
  • the device shown can of course also be used to dispense another adhesive or a sealant.
  • At one end of the housing 2 is a closable by a cap 3 applicator tip for the adhesive is arranged.
  • the housing 2 has a stable casing 4 for an accommodation space for accommodating an adhesive cartridge as a container for the adhesive.
  • the stable casing 4 of the device 1 is formed from two largely identical half-shells, the first half-shell 7 and the second half-shell 8, which are connected to one another to form the housing 2, for example via a snap-in connection which can be released to refill adhesive.
  • a deformable pressure area 5 is formed in each of the two half-shells 7, 8, a deformable pressure area 5 is formed.
  • the print area 5 has an outer area 10 which is connected to the stable casing 4 in an edge area 6 .
  • the pressure area 5 has an inner area 9 which is arranged inside the outer area 10 .
  • the inner area 9 is designed as a movable area.
  • the outer region 10 surrounds the inner region 9 on three sides.
  • Both the outer area 10 and the inner area 9 are made of a deformable material, in particular rubber.
  • a number of openings 21 are formed in the inner region 9 and can penetrate the entire deformable material of the inner region 9 .
  • the inner area 9 is, as in figure 1 shown, can be pressed inwardly into the housing 2, in which case it is already partially pressed into the housing in the exemplary embodiment shown.
  • an inherently stable, movable structure underneath the material of the inner area 9, adjacent to the receiving space for the adhesive cartridge, there is provided an inherently stable, movable structure, to which the deformable material of the inner area 9 is applied.
  • the in figure 1 movable structure By applying pressure to the inner area 9, the in figure 1 movable structure, not shown, is pressed into the housing 2 and thus exerts pressure on the adhesive cartridge located in the receiving space.
  • the inner area 9 is separated from the outer area 10 by a zone 11 of increased deformability.
  • the zone of increased deformability 11 makes it easier to press in the movable structure with the inner area 9. This makes it possible to form a very easily movable area in the closed housing 2, namely the inner area 9 with the movable structure in which to apply pressure can be exerted by adhesive.
  • the housing 2 also has an extended gripping area 12 which adjoins the printing area 5 on the side facing away from the applicator tip. No receiving space for an adhesive cartridge is formed within the extended handle area 12 .
  • the Figures 2, 3 and 4 show further views of the device 1, wherein in the Figures 3 and 4 in particular the formation of the housing 2 from two half-shells 7, 8 and the formation of a second, identical pressure area 5 on the opposite side of the first pressure area 5 can be seen particularly well.
  • figure 5 shows the device according to FIG Figures 1 to 4 in cross section, the cut surface also extending through the receiving space.
  • first half-shell 7 and the second half-shell 8 form a receiving space 15 designed as a hollow space, in which the adhesive cartridge 16 is received. This is also in the other sectional views in the Figures 8 and 9 recognizable.
  • the adhesive cartridge 16 is arranged in the receiving space 15 in such a way that it is connected to an application tip 17 of the device 1 .
  • the adhesive cartridge 16 can in particular be made of an elastic plastic or of metal.
  • the first half-shell 7 and the second half-shell 8 are partially designed as a stable, movable structure 14 .
  • they are, as particularly good in figure 9 can be seen, at its end remote from the application tip 17 firmly connected to the rest of the housing 2 of the device 1, while near the application tip 17 have a free end 22.
  • the inherently stable, movable structure 14 can thus be pressed into the receiving space 15 by pressure on the free end 22 .
  • the pressure on the free end 22 is thereby transferred to the adhesive cartridge 16, from which adhesive can be pressed out in this way.
  • the stable, movable structure 14 has a number of ribs 23 which make the structure 14 stable and movable at the same time. In addition, they serve to better connect the structure 14 to the elastic material of the pressure area 5.
  • the pressure area 5 made of elastic material is applied to the structure 14 and forms part of the surface of the device 1 .
  • the inner area 9 is separated from the outer area 10 of the pressure area 5 by a zone 11 of increased deformability.
  • a U-shaped curved area 24 with a low material thickness is formed, which connects the inner area 9 to the outer area 10 .
  • the U-shaped curved portion serves like a single fold bellows to allow movement of the inner portion 9 with almost no resistance when pressure is applied.
  • FIG 7 shows the position in which the inner region 9 has been moved by the application of pressure.
  • U-shaped curved portion 24 is stretched and thus everted from its folded or inverted position.
  • the area 24 curved in a U-shape in the rest position has the effect that the pressure area 5 hardly offers any resistance to being pressed in. The force applied is thus almost completely transferred to the adhesive cartridge 16 . Only a negligibly small proportion is used for the deformation of the elastic material in the pressure area 5. This makes it possible to handle the device 1 with little effort and with particular precision.
  • Im den with Figure 8 and 9 The longitudinal sections shown show that the adhesive cartridge 16 in the receiving space 15 is connected via a threaded area 25 to a component of the device containing the application tip 17 . Here, too, the application tip 17 is covered by the closure cap 3 . In addition, the stable, movable structure 14 and the free ends 22 of the two half-shells 7, 8 are visible.
  • Figures 10 to 12 12 show representations of a device 1' for applying adhesive according to a second embodiment.
