Definitions
- the present invention relates to a protection fence and a method for the realisation of such fence.
- fences designed to protect a given area in order to prevent the access to non-workers and at the same time protect them.
- Such fences are often used both in the industrial and in the civil field to delimit, for example, the machines working areas, the perimeter of the plants or the perimeter of the buildings intended for residential use.
- the protection fences provide a series of panels, generally comprising a portion of metal mesh, associated by means of connection devices according to a determined spatial geometry.
- the connection devices comprise multiple of supporting members of the uprights or stands type properly equipped to be constrained to the opposite sides of each panel so as to make the fence.
- the panels are constrained to the uprights by means of screw connection means.
- the patent FR 2 864 570 illustrates, e.g., a fence comprising at least one metal mesh panel associated with one pair of uprights defining respective longitudinal channels for the hooking of opposite ends of the panel.
- the panel is connected to the pair of uprights by respective locking plates arranged behind the mesh constituting the panel. Each locking plate is fixed to the respective upright by screw means.
- US patent 4,723,759 describes a protection fence comprising a series of metal mesh panels constrained to the uprights by jaw members, each jaw member comprising a first C-shaped jaw surrounding an upright and a second C-shaped jaw which wraps around a longitudinal wire of the panel.
- the pair of jaws are joined at end portions by screw means.
- JP Patent 2015 161121 illustrates a mesh panel that conforms at the top a bent portion facing downwards in a mounting position.
- Each upright has at its top a covering member provided with a support element which protrudes towards the panel so as to function as a support for the bent portion of the panel.
- the panel is fixed to each upright by a series of fixing members which are distributed along the longitudinal edges of the panel facing towards the respective uprights.
- a problem related to the use of screw means is that of difficult assembly resulting in a consequent increase in the time required to perform the work and therefore the related labour costs.
- the patent application EP 2 460 952 illustrates, e.g., a fence comprising a series of mesh panels, wherein each panel is associated at opposite sides to respective uprights having a series of hook members, laterally protruding towards the mesh panels.
- the hook members are suitable for housing the longitudinal wires of the mesh panel placed at the lateral ends of the panel itself; such hook members are alternated with openings arranged to receive the end portions of the transverse wires of the mesh.
- the uprights are H-shaped with end portions bent in order to define a curvilinear surface.
- the bent portions extend at regular intervals along a longitudinal direction of the upright to form proper hooks suitable for retaining the longitudinal wires of the mesh panels.
- the patent EP 1 980 688 illustrates a tubular upright comprising a first half-shell conforming at the ends respective protruding portions provided with hooking tabs.
- the upright comprises a second half-shell likewise conforming a pair of protruding portions of ends provided with tabs suitable to be associated with the tabs of the first half-shell to form, during assembly, the tubular enclosure of the upright.
- the protruding portions in the assembled configuration of the enclosure, define one pair of longitudinal guides adapted to receive the longitudinal wires of the mesh constituting the panel to be associated with the upright.

- At least one panel 2 is associated to the connection devices 3 by hooking the bent portion 8 at the lateral edges of the panel 2 on respective supporting members 14 of the uprights 9 and, at the same time, inserting the lateral edges into the respective longitudinal channels 10 of the uprights 9.
- bent portion 8 of the panel 2 is inserted in the regions of space defined by the protection members 16 and the supporting members 14, resting on the respective supporting members 14.
- the step of associating at least one panel 2 to the connection devices 3 provides for, at first, hooking the bent portion 8 of a lateral edge of the panel 2 on a supporting member 14 of an upright 9 and, at the same time, inserting the lateral edge in the longitudinal channel 10 of the upright 9.
- the bent portion 8 of the opposite lateral edge of the panel 2 is hooked on the supporting member 14 of the further upright 9 and, at the same time, engages the lateral edge in the longitudinal channel 10 of the upright 9.
- the hooking of the bent portion 8 of the lateral edges on the respective supporting members 14 of the uprights 9 takes place by positioning a first hooking portion consisting of a terminal segment 60 of a longitudinal wire 6 of the bent portion 8 on the supporting member 14 and sliding the mesh 4 until it reaches the end wall 91 of the upright 9.
- the engagement portions of each lateral edge are then conveniently hooked on the supporting member 14 and the lateral edge is received by the longitudinal channel 10.
- bends 7 of the metal mesh 4 engage the channels 10 in mounting position, helping to keep the panel 2 stable on a vertical plane.
- the fence according to the present invention achieves the aim of being able to be assembled in optimal times while ensuring a solid and stable structure.
- the supporting member guides the hooking of the panel and supports the panel in the mounting position, notably facilitating the association of the panel to the connection devices and therefore reducing the operating times for the making of the fence.
- the longitudinal channel of the device provides a further guide for the hooking of the panel, contributing to speed up the operation.
- the protection member covering the supporting member prevents the panel from being removed from the connection device, giving stability and solidity to the fence.
- the panels constituting the fence provided with a bent upper portion suitable for being hooked on the supporting member allow a simple and solid coupling with the connection devices, providing solidity to the structure of the fence.
- the fence is easily adaptable to the dimensional and geometrical characteristics of the place of application since the panels are associated in a modular manner and the transverse dimension of the panels may be easily modified by performing mesh cutting operations along a longitudinal direction with a pitch equal to the one established by the grid of the mesh. This modification of the transverse dimension of the panels does not compromise in any way the ease of assembly of each panel to the uprights.
- connection device is easy to produce as well as low cost.
- the method allows to realize the fence in a simple and fast way as it provides for simple operations such as, in particular, the hooking of the bent portions of the panel on the supporting member to associate the panel with the uprights.
- the fence disclosed by a way of example, is susceptible of several modifications and variations depending on the different requirements.
- the materials used, as well as shape and dimensions, may be any according to requirements.
