Definitions
- the technical field of the invention is that of protection devices for observation means.
- a 360 degree rotating 360-degree periscopic observation means may comprise a shielded cowling which covers it and which is coaxial with the observation means.
- the cowling comprises a window located opposite an optical observation means.
- the cowling and the observation means are mechanically coupled in the bearing so that, when the observation means pivots in position, the cowling also pivots so that the window is always facing the optics.
- Such a protective device constituted by the cowling and its window must have a window opening with a surface greater than the surface of the optic to allow observations in elevation.
- the patent RU2584362 discloses a ballistic protection device having first and second coaxial revolution hoods and each having a plurality of grooves oriented in different directions for each hood.
- the grooves rotate continuously in opposite directions to provide ballistic protection but do not allow to provide a permanent observation window for an optical.
- the invention proposes to solve this problem of vulnerability by reducing the opening of the window to the necessary minimum, namely the surface of the optics and this for all positions in the field or in the location of the axis of the optics.
- the invention also makes it possible to hide the opening of the window without it being necessary to provide a shutter or a part dedicated solely to this function.
- the invention relates to a ballistic protection device orientable about a bearing axis and intended to cover at least one pivotable periscopic observation means around the same bearing axis, protection device characterized in that it comprises a first and a second cover each having a form of revolution, form for placing the first cover under the second to rotate each of the covers relative to each other about the bearing axis, the first and the second bonnet being rotated respectively by a first and second drive means, each having a sensor for knowing the position of each of the hoods in position, the first and the second bonnet respectively comprising first and second grooves oriented obliquely by relative to the bearing axis, the first and second grooves being oriented in different directions so that a zone of superposition of the grooves forms an observation window through the two covers, the window whose position is controlled by means of a control device to be placed opposite an optical observation means, the position of the window on the device being variable as a function of the angular position of the covers relative to the bearing axis.
- the covers have a cylindrical shape and have their groove on the side of the cylinder thus allowing a variation of the position of the observation window both in the deposit and in the site.
- the first and second grooves are inclined by 45 degrees relative to the bearing axis.
- control device can simultaneously rotate the first cover and the second cover in opposite directions and both at the same angle to vary only the position of the window.
- control device can simultaneously rotate the first cover and the second cover of the same angular value in the same direction to vary only the position in the bearing of the window.
- control device can compose angular position variations of the first cover relative to the angular position of the second cover and the absolute positions of the two covers relative to the bearing axis to simultaneously vary the position in the site and in the deposit. from the window.
- an armored combat vehicle 100 has on its roof an observation means (observation means visible to the figure 2 ) protected by a ballistic protection device 1 which is orientable in bearing around a substantially vertical axis 2 which is also the bearing axis of the observation means 4.
- the protection device 1 comprises a first cover 3 intended to be placed on the observation means 4, coaxially with the bearing axis 2 of this observation means 4.
- a second cover 5 covers the first cover 3 also coaxially 2.
- the first and the second hoods 3 and 5 comprise forms of revolution, in this case substantially cylindrical shapes, in order to be able to rotate relative to one another.
- each cover 3 and 5 comprises a drive means 11 comprising a ring gear 12 circular meshing with a pinion 14 of a motor 13 fixed to the vehicle 100 in order to rotate each cover 3 and 5 around the bearing axis 2.
- Each motor 13 comprises an encoder (non-visible encoder) making it possible to know the position in the bearing of each of the covers 3 and 5.
- first and second covers 3 and 5 respectively comprise a first groove 6 (for the first cover 3) and a second groove 7 (for the second cover 5) which are inclined relative to the bearing axis 2.
- the first groove 6 is oriented at an angle ⁇ by relative to the bearing axis 2.
- the second groove 7 is oriented by an angle ⁇ with respect to the bearing axis 2. The angle ⁇ is different from the angle ⁇ of inclination of the second groove 7.
- the first groove 6 is oriented at a first angle ⁇ of 45 degrees with respect to the axis 2 while the second groove 7 is oriented by a second angle ⁇ of -45 degrees with respect to this axis 2.
- first and second grooves 6 and 7 are orthogonal to each other.
- an open observation window 8 is obtained in the superposition zone of the grooves 6 and 7.
- this observation window 8 will be positioned opposite an optical 9 of the observation means 4 thus enabling an operator (operator not shown) to observe the environment of the vehicle (vehicle visible to the figure 1 ).
- the position in the site and in the bearing of the window 8 is slaved to the position in the bearing and to the inclination of the optics 9 by means of a control device adapted to follow a control process such that: vary the single position in the window 8 site, without changing its position in the field, is rotated simultaneously the first cover 3 and the second cover 5 in opposite directions and both of the same angle ⁇ .
- the optic 9 of the observation means 4 is oriented in a conventional manner to modify the inclination in site of its axis of sight.
- the optic 9 of the observation means 4 does not pivot in the bearing, only the covers 3 and 5 pivot.
- the observation means 4 is in a conventional manner already provided with sensors making it possible to determine the positions in the S-site and in the G-spot of the axis of its optics 9. As described above, sensors will also be provided, for example incremental encoders associated with the motors (not shown) making it possible to know the angular positions in the bearing of each cap 3 and 5.
- the orientation reference values in S-site and G-bearing of the axis of optics 9 to control the relative positionings in the bearing of the two covers 3 and 5 (positions which are also measured by the appropriate sensors) so as to match the window 8 with the position of the optics 9 both in site and in the field.
- angles ⁇ 1 and ⁇ 2 are determined by an algorithm from the values of the site angles S and deposit G of the axis of the optics 9. These angles also depend on the geometric characteristics of the grooves 6 and 7 of the covers 3 and 5, in particular their inclinations ⁇ and ⁇ with respect to the bearing axis 2.
- each intermediate value between ⁇ 1 and ⁇ 2 can be associated with a particular angle of elevation.
- angles ⁇ 1 and ⁇ 2 will also take into account the difference between the initial position of the covers and the median position described above.
- the zone devoid of ballistic protection is very small since it is limited to a window 8 permanently facing the optics 9 during the observation phases.
- the width of each groove 6 and 7 is substantially equivalent to the diagonal of the optic 9.
- the invention it is also possible to completely protect the optics 9 by removing the window 8. For this, simply rotate the first cover 3 relative to the second cover 5 by an angle such that the grooves 6 and 7 do not have an overlay area.

Description
- acquérir en continu par les capteurs du moyen d'observation 4 la variation de position des angles de gisement G et de site S de l'axe de l'optique 9 ;
